A tragedy...

It's a tragedy of epic proportions. My second refrigerator/freezer downstair was unplugged...or the fuse blew...or something. I lost 5 gallons of huckleberries! They had been carefully packaged, frozen and hoarded for the last 2 seaons of huckleberry picking. I've made huckleberry muffins, huckleberry cheesecake, huckleberry syrup. I'm very sad. Picking huckleberries is a lot of work. Some people may never get more than a gallon during picking season.
You can click here to read about my wonderful experiences last summer during huckleberry season. Huckleberries are little tiny wonderful tasing berries. FIVE GALLONS!!! I threw away FIVE GALLONS!!! That's like a bazillion in dog years.

Sniffle sniffle, I have been the lucky partaker of some of your huckleberry treats. So sad. So sorry!

I don't know if I've ever had a huckleberry before! I'm sure they are delicious.

Do they taste like blackberries?

How tragic! So sorry. Were the huckleberries the only thing in your freezer? Or are they the only thing that hurt to throw away. That's alot of work!

oh that is a bummer. I worry about that. Actually with me I have a couple of freezers in the garage and I worry about the little ones opening them to get a freezer treat and not closing all the way. I check often. After reading this I will check even more probably.
