You are what you eat....

I need to change my daughter's diet. Or I'm in labor and don't know it!

My last two posts may give a brief description of the nonsense of the weekend. Hurry to Utah to check out violins. Bring two of them home to try. But before we could get home the car decides to have a few hiccups. Leaving us stranded while my jack-of-all-trade hubby does repairs. Did enjoy a visit with my oldest son and family.

Got the daughter to Logan to the music festival she was participating in. Whew! We are feeling pretty good about being able to accomplish so much considering the circumstances.
Then we receive a midnight phone call from the daughter at the music festival..."uh, mom, I forgot my violin bow in the other violin case".......

I'm doing Lamaze breathing by now because I remember say to her (in my sweetest patient mommy voice) now dear do you have EVERYTHING? I wouldn't have been so irritated and having to resort to do Lamaze breathing if she hadn't just pulled a double-eye rollover on me when I asked! (I hate those)
Next day ANOTHER phone call..."mom, guess who left her orchestra dress at home?" (Home being Idaho while we're still stranded in Utah) Are ya kiddin' me???Seriously????

(More Lamaze breathing here... hee hee hee hoo) I'm past the point of tired and cranky and I want to be home, this was supposed to be a flying trip and back in the same day! Not sure what she did about the dress thing, I'm sure the orchestra and choir teachers thinks she's the biggest ditz! This is a normally well rounded, well organized, plans thought out type of girl. WHAT IS GOING ON????

I'm very afraid. She graduates in less than a month. She's going out into the big wide world.

Oh, and then she decides after playing the two violins that we brought home for her to try that she doesn't like the tone of either one. We also had two music professors play them. They didn't either. So BACK to Utah yesterday to return them both. BUT she did find a violin that she totally fell in love with from a little music store in our own little hometown. Go figure.
Hee hee hee hoo...hee hee hee hoo....I know that deliverance in nigh........
OK, enough dingdong pictures, she's a doll and I love her more than anything. She's giving me a personal concert on her "mom it's totally awesome" violin. What a doll!

Dear Week.....

Will you PLEASE end????? Drove to SLC, spent hours trying on violins and listening to the youngun' play. Then hurry to drive to Logan (thought it was Provo...silly me)to get the youngun' to her Festival event and then the car broke down on the Logan pass. Timing belt or something like that. Violin crushing, car breaking down, I can't take too much more breakage of stuff.

So Week, if you have any shred of decency, you will just be over!

Signed,
Sleepless in Utah

Headed down to Utah.....

Going to Utah today to look for another violin....sniffle.... still not over the trauma of it all. I was mistaken on how this unfortunate event occurred after all. She locked her keys in the truck but luckily remembered that she had the spare set in her violin case. She was feeling smart about having the ONLY spare set of keys in her violin.
She gets out the keys runs around and unlocks the door, jumps in and drives off...well, not completely off, just off enough to drive over the violin. Sheesh, and I'm thinking to myself right now "and she's graduating?"

If you don't have any idea what I'm rambling about you can read the previous post.

Please tell me this did NOT just happen.....

Time: 11:00 pm
Date: Last night
Place: High School parking lot
Person involved: My soon-to-be graduating daughter

She arrived home late after attending a Choir Festival in Blackfoot, Idaho. She says she was anxious to get home. She hurried and threw all of her stuff in the truck,

backpack, violin, extra clothes, music....you know, a whole plethora of stuff...I can envision this process in my head, I've watched her rush from one thing to another. She says that she didn't notice that a certain thing had fallen out of the truck, until she ran over it.............

Of course, we are so grateful that it was a THING, but upcoming events...Thursday and Friday she travels to Provo for a Music Festival, orchestra and Bel Cantos and on the 4th she'll be doing her Senior Recital.

I hope you have a better day AngelBaby! I love you.

Not to be outdone.....

I was blog stalking this morning and came across a blogging friend's blog. I have never met Gigi but I totally loved her post today about randomness. You really need to go over there and read it....hurry back though. Did I mention I don't know Gigi? I read her blog all the time and enjoy her humor. For all I know she lives in some tropical climate where she steps out her front door, picks mangos and wanders barefoot on the beach all day. From the third picture that she posted today that's what I thought her life might be like. She also appears to have an outrageous pedicure going on, nice toenails!

So I decided to copy her. I thought it would be fun to have people think I step outside to pick some exotic fruit, wander in the sand and show off my outrageous pedicure. So this morning I did that very thing, stepped outside and took a picture of my foot.

Whatdya think? Do ya think I pick mangos and wander on sandy beaches all day?

Uhm, no it isn't too late to enter my "snow is gone" giveaway (see previous post) Maybe I should change the name to "is the snow ever gonna go giveaway?"

"Snow is Gone" Giveaway!

As promised in the previous posts, I am having a giveaway to celebrate the disappearance of the snow in my yard! Thank you 60 degree weather for the past 2 days. I'm looking forward to spring and flowers and digging in the dirt.
In celebration I'm having an awesome giveaway. Three prizes...
Prize #1
Everybody needs one of these guys. I've had several and have given them away as gifts for birthdays and Father's Day. Has always been a big hit. Allow me to demonstrate:

This is an egg yolk separator.

Crack your egg into this guy's head and tip the guy slightly forward like so....

And taadaa, the egg white is separated from the yolk! Now who wouldn't want one of these awesome things! Well, this is the last one available! (Interestingly enough, I know a person who looks "eggs"actly like this egg separator, slightly disturbing.)
Prize #2:
For all quilters out there I'm offering this book:

It's called "Quilts! Quilts! Quilts!" By Diana McClun and Laura Nownes. I bought this and many other quilting books when I had a desire to learn to quilt. Accompanying this book will be 3 small quilt blocks that I attempted, then realized there was no way on this green earth I was ever going to be a quilter.

Now who wouldn't want a sample of my dismal failure? You can use them for bookmarks, dust rags or tissues. Speaking of tissues.....
Prize #3:
A cutsie little tissue holder made by "moi" complete with tissues inside (unused of course) AND and handful of drug rep pens!

So there ya have it! My celebration in getting rid of the last of my snow. I'm so dang happy that I don't have to continue to lob snow over the fence into my neighbors yard...or not....
Anyway, to enter the drawing just leave a comment on this post AND tell others to do the same. The drawing will be held on the 18th while I am at work so that my co-workers can do the drawing. I may even take pictures of them so you can see how weird they are. ER people are very weird people.
Happy Spring EVERYONE!!!

Wow, rapid disappearance of snow....

How in the world did that happen? Doth it be possible that the unholy snow leaveth the hallowed ground of mine own yard?????

But behold, verily I say, how is it possible that thine unholy snow hath reached the far reaches of thy neighbors fence and abounded thus over?
Hmmmm, I believe that thou canst neither confirm nor deniest........verily.
That thine garden may once again be proven to bring forth an abundance of fruits and vegetables to nourish thine little ones...verily. It was thus expedient that thine unholy snow removeth itself from thy precious ground.

Almost gone!!!

The ugly snow persists here...and it's difficult for me. I hate ugly snow. It's ugly.
Unfortunately, ugly snow stays in my yard for a long time. My neighbors are mowing and raking and I'm still shoveling snow off my lawn onto the street. (OK maybe they aren't really mowing, but it feels like it) I have a huge pine tree in my front yard that shades the snow and keeps it from melting under the global warming of the sun.
At least now it's only this:

Instead of the mountain that my kids and grandchildren used as a sledding hill this Christmas....seriously they did....really.

We had soooo much snow this year. Snow is good, it provides our valley with water, snow is good, this snow was pretty:

The snow that currently remains on my lawn is NOT pretty. It needs to go away. I threatened my neighbor (the one who is almost mowing his lawn) that I was going to shovel snow from my yard into his....but I'm not bitter or anything.
Anyway, as soon as this last bit of snow melts......I'm going to celebrate by having a give-away!!!! Something for me to look forward to. As I am typing this entry my neighbor across the street is raking her lawn....what a brat! I hate when neighbors aren't neighborly....but I'm not bitter or anything.

Great day for migraine sufferers!

I work at a hospital. I'm a drug pusher. I believe in drugs. Better living through chemistry....that's my motto!!! I also am a drug user...I know, shame on me.

Today I found out the MY drug, the drug that was invented for ME,the only drug I use, that keeps ME sane and helps ME function...Imitrex! It is now generic! Instead of paying $100.00 per month for 18 tablets (and that is with insurance!) I now will pay only $4.00 per month!!!! I am sooooo excited! This is huge! Now I don't have to feel guilty that I'm taking food out of my baby's mouth in order to have relief from a migraine! Wow, this is such good news!

We are finally home.....IT"S SO COLD!

We got home late last night. It's cold! I think however I am going to protest the cold and continue to wear the attire I wore in Arizona, flip flops and capris. I will NOT let the cold tell me what to wear....nosireeee!

We had a great time and enjoyed being with our friends the Wagners. They are an awesome retired couple who have been around the world. They are so fascinating to listen to and hear the stories of their lives.
Oliver is refined and dignified as you can see from this:

Someone forgot to tell him that it's time to grow up! I love this guy! He's always been funny. His wife is an angel and they are so dear to us!

Thanks Ollie and Cora for being so wonderful to our family. Of course no picture of them would be complete without their cat. They spoil their cat. In my next life I want to come back as their cat.

He really is a beautiful cat, his name is Kkat. Easy to remember. He looks very regal, he pretty much is the king of the castle.
Arizona was beautiful and warm. I decided I would like palm trees in my yard.

Or Joshua trees or Saurao Cactus....cacti?

We went through Las Vegas during the night Saturday night, not much to see, but the buzz on the streets is still about Kristina's blog during Spring Break....wow, her blog really got around. (It's a long story I won't try to explain)

It's good to be home, 15 hours is a long way to drive and I'm not sure the hubby will be taking me anywhere anytime soon.
It was very nice to get home to my bag....sniffle....

My books, my itouch, my lotion, my imitrex, my craft projects............I missed you and you would have been wonderful to have on this trip.

Technology is AMAZING!

We are on our way home from our short vacation in Sun City, Arizona. We left late yesterday afternoon and drove as far as Mesquite. I'll miss adding to my sunburn, seeing lemon trees and orange trees and cacti and palm trees. Such a different world out there in comparison to the freezing world I live in.

I say technology is amazing because I am sitting in the car, we are driving 80 miles an hour on some highway between Fillmore, Utah and Salt Lake City. I'm on the internet via my husband's data phone. That is so weird! (It's also weird that we are legally going 80 miles an hour...legally) I guess it's because there is nothing there so they allow you to hurry up and get through it? I'm just surfing around waiting for the last session of Conference to start since we hae been unable to find a radio station that is broadcasting it.
Technology is awesome!

Could I be dumber????

The answer would be "yes".......I also forgot my toothbrush! However, don't be sicked out, I'm not going to go for 4 days without brushing the pearly whites. I did by one of those. I didn't by a camera yet, though. I thought I would get me a point and shoot, but didn't want to part with the money. Maybe I'll get a disposable. We are seeing some awesome things here...we'll they are awesome to me. Palm trees, cactusses, OK cacti, beautiful architecture. I'm just loving it! I've also sunburned my feet. I'm OK with that.
My son called this morning and said they had gotten 3 inches of snow during the night and it was still snowing hard....I'm not sure if I can go home to that.

We are enjoying our time with our dear friends, Cora and Oliver. They have known us for 25 years. We used to manage a large housing complex in Rexburg and during the summer we would have Sunbirds. Retired people from Arizona escaping the heat. We did that for 8 years. Our kids were little. Well, Cora and Oliver became dear friends that we never lost contact with. They even came and stayed in our rental apartment for two summers. We love them. I have an old photo somewhere with Cora holding my kids on her lap. I'm going to have to find it and post it. I know my kids would get a kick out it.

Travelblog........I'm a bad traveler.

This morning at 12:00 AM we hit the road to head to Phoenix, Arizona. I haven't been to Phoenix for 23 years. I've been excited to go to Phoenix, I'm sick of snow and the freezing, cold wind in Idaho. When we left it was a blizzard. BYE BYE BLIZZARD!

I don't travel much, I rarely go anywhere, I'm OK with that. In fact, traveling really stresses me out. I'm not sure why, I don't like being in the car for long periods of time, my hubby gets tired of hearing me say "are we there yet?" But I have been looking forward to this trip. I need sunlight and warmth. It's been months since I've had either.

So, ya know when you go somewhere and you fix you up a bag? You are going to be in the car for 15+ hours, it's THE bag! Crafts, books, treats...it's like a quiet book only better. I prepared the best bag. Brand new Readers Digest, Annette Lyons book, everyone has been raving about it, so I bought it and used great restraint by NOT opening it yet, some needle work, a brand new itouch to figure out on the way. SO excited to get into my BAG. We drove all night and reached past Provo and stopped, I figured I'd break out THE BAG and start reading now that there was daylight. NO BAG! "Uhm honey, did you pack my BAG?" Nope, nada, zilch, zip...no BAG! I'm devastated! Now we might have to have a conversation or something. I was really looking forward to playing in the ultimate of BAGS! Sniffle.

We stop near the Grand Canyon later in the day to stretch. I thought I would take some pictures to help get myself out of the deep depression of not having THE BAG. Uhm, yup you guessed it. No camera! I'm a very bad traveler.

I'll be glad to get home to my BAG and camera. But in the meantime I'm enjoying 84 degree weather! Looking at a lemon tree! I wish I could take a picture to prove it.
