FORCED "SLOW DOWN"

Yesterday I went to the hospital.
As a patient.

The day before I had to have blood work done.
And an EKG.

I work with these people.
I took the EKG machine and DID IT MYSELF.

The next morning:
 An IV in the foot.

Third time was a charm.
"Thanks Nicole"
I didn't cry too much.

Bilateral DeQuerVain Tendon repair.

It's really cramping my style.
But I look forward to the use of my thumbs again.

Madison Memorial is awesome.

I begged Michael to be my anesthesia guy.
I think I enjoyed the Milk of Amnesia.
Don't remember a thing.

OR crew awesome!
They protected me from that dang ER crew.
There was threats of tatoos and nail polish when I awakened.

Dr. Mills was great!
No pain today, for the first time in about 3 years!

Dinner last night from Becca who usually only fixes Lean Quisine.
She brought me real food!
Yum!

I wonder if they are going to charge me for doing my own EKG?

JUNE 23, 1978

I love you more today than yesterday.
Yesterday you irritated me.

Just kidding....

It was a quiet day of just being together.
My favorite kind.

We've gotten old, you and I.

THINGS THAT MATTER MOST

We were to have our getaway a few days longer.
But we needed to attend a funeral.

My cousins boy was killed on Tuesday.
He was driving a fertilizer truck and went off the road.
He was to be married next Friday.

Things can change in the blink of an eye.

You realize quickly that all that really matters is family, supporting one another and living a kind
and full life.

Your infectious smile will be missed, Bobby.

ANNIVERSARY GETAWAY

35 Years is a big deal.
It's a long time.
It is before the internet
Facebook
Blogging
Facetime
Digital cameras
Cell phones
Smart phones....

Ya, it's long.
Seems like those things have always been with us.

Howie and I like remote.
Things that don't have all of the above.

We went to a little bed and breakfast along the Salmon River.

It was remote.
Our cabin....rustic.
No water.
No lights, just a kerosene latern.

It was awesome.
Six twin beds!
What?
We pushed two of them together.
Been together for 35 years.
Not sleeping separate now.

 Such beautiful country.
I think the population of Shoup is 4.
Overcrowded a bit.

Hiya Handsome!

GARDEN OF EGAN

We planted the garden two weeks earlier than we ever have before.
I love seeing growing things.

Even the weeds.

After 8 months of gray and cold weather,
I relish anything green.

We had temperatures of 34• on Friday night and 80• yesterday.

Growing stuff here is a challenge sometimes.

I hope for tomatoes sometime in August.
The salt shaker is ready.

I was told we couldn't grow peaches in my neck of the woods.

So I planted one.
We'll see how that goes.

In the meantime, bring out the sun.

CHICK FILL AYE!

They have lost their cuteness factor.
But they are still fun.
I ended up with 5 chicks.
One had a broken leg.
I was pretty distraught.
I made my daughter take it to the vet.
It cost 30 bucks to put it to sleep.

I guess that's the life of a farmer.
Right?
