PLAYMILL THEATER

We enjoyed pizza at the Wild West Pizzaria.

Because pizza and the wild west are always used in the same sentence.

Krew and Lexi sitting in the Bear Chair.

The Playmill Theater
It's always such a treat.
Lexi was TOTALLY enthralled.
Belle was beautiful!
During the play Lexi waved and the Beast.
He waved back.
It made her day!

I DID WHAT????

Last Saturday I was cleaning the kitchen.
Washing dishes in the sink.

Imagine my surprise when I pulled out:
Yes.
My iPhone.
Soaking in water.

I'm so daft!

Now I use my hubby's old:

It's old.

Like 4 years old.

That's like 18 in dog years.

It's been painful.
I lost my contacts.
And pictures.

I'm never washing dishes again!

LET THE CANNING SEASON BEGIN

Attempting to make the perfect dill pickle.
Crispy and tart.
Having a hard time with the crispy.
This is the last year I will try dill pickles.
(I say that every year)

12 pints of dill pickles.
10 pints of Amish coleslaw.
(Amish coleslaw is crispy and YUMMY)
I love canning.
I know it's not some people's deal.
But it is a big deal to me.
There's nothing like seeing those gleaming full jars.
My own grocery store!

LAZY HOUSEWIFE

Yup.
That's me.

Today I went out to the garden and realized it sorta got away from me.

I love the garden.

Planting.
Watering.
Weeding.

Really I love that part.

Now for the HARD part!
Using the stuff!!!!

Too many cucumbers to just eat and not enough to make a batch of dills.

So I was the lazy housewife.

I made lazy housewife pickles.
These are my favorite.
Crisp and sweet.

I use the brine to make coleslaw.

Lazy Housewife Pickles

5-6 onions (that's the only size I have right now) or 1 large onion

8 cups cuke slices

2 c sugar

2 c cider vinegar

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

1/2 tsp celery seeds

1/2 tsp turmeric

1 Tsp salt.

Stuff the cukes and onions into quart or 1/2 gallon jar.
Bring brine to a boil. (That sounds like a nursery rhythm)

Pour over cukes and place in fridge.
Stays good for 3-4 weeks.
If it lasts that long.

Lazy housewife guilt gone.

THE NAYSAYERS WERE RIGHT

Apparently I can't grow peaches.
It is so dead.
I'll try another one in the Fall.

The Garden of Egan, on the other hand...
Looks like it's on steroids!

We have already eaten cucumbers and cabbages.

Pretty sure it is the chicken manure.

Or the fact that we planted May 11th.

Or the fact that it is HOT!

Speaking of chicken manure.....
Aren't they adorable?????
