I'M A TALL TWO YEAR OLD!

I read somewhere that someone that is tired is just a tall two year old.

I'm cranky.
I'm having a tantrum.
If you don't want cranky or a tantrum today...
turn the page.

I think it started Thursday with the city I live in.
I was informed that my "pile" of wood was on city property.
"Uh, it's not a pile, it's stacked on my property."
We've stacked wood in the alley against our fence for 20 years.
Apparently Thursday they wanted it changed.
Saturday, Howie was home for the weekend.
We spent the afternoon moving wood.
Still another stack to go.

While we were outside the Mayor of the town came by.
He was campaigning.
I invited him into the house.
Then took him through the house.
And out to the alley.
I showed him our stack that remained.
I also show him the phone poles and bushes that stick out further than my wood.
He agreed, that we needn't have moved the wood.
And that it didn't encroach upon "city" property.
Rich, you have my vote tomorrow!

Speaking of the alley,
It's being driven down like the Indy 500.
As this town has grown, so have the creative ways to get from one place to another.
It's an ALLEY people!
For some reason the alley has turned into a damn thoroughfare.
(Yes I said damn.)

Cars should not drive through alleys like that.
I have had two cats killed in that alley the last three months.
Yes, my toilet paper destroying cat.
I miss them.

Another reason for the crankiness.
I'm tired of Howie being gone all the time.
He's been gone for more weeks this year than he's been home.
He's my best friend.
He's my lover.
He's my foot warmer.
He's my fixer guy.

He left again yesterday afternoon.

And I hate the daylight savings time change!
I don't love it dark at 5:00 PM!

And it's freezing cold outside!
And gray!

And I can't make Toll House Cookies.
They turn out flat and horrible!

I know, I have so much and am so blessed.
We are employed.
And the traveling will end.
And we are healthy.
I truly know that.

BUT today....
I'm a tall two year old.
And I need a nap.

Maybe after I've read this I'll delete it.
Or not.

You should eat some of those chocolates you've been dipping.

Some weeks it seems everything goes wrong. So sorry to hear about your cats, too.
Sending a hug across the miles. Music Notes had a good idea - eat the chocolates!

I am so sorry about your cats, I had no idea!! I feel like a toad.

I agree with Music Notes. Eat some of that chocolate you've been dipping. Doncha know, Chocolate has magical properties?!

HUGS HUGS HUGS and It's OK to be a tall 2-year-old. I think you've got plenty reason to be!

I would be a crank toddler too!

I agree about the alley for sure! Owen and I sure loved going for little walks down it to see the chickens that live at the top of it... at least it isn't the smoothest ride, so you can hope they messed up their alignment and have to shell out money for new tires soon!

Don't delete. . .you are real.

You know what you need? A FOFF. Fatty-old-feast-fest. My roommate and I used to have them. Get your favorite food, favorite book and/or movie, put on your pajamas and ignore the world for a good 8 hours.

Well, sweet friend from what I have read you have every right to be a tall two year old. Something needs to be done to stop all that going on in the alley. Sorry you had to move all the wood and I am so sad and sorry about your cats. Hoping something really nice happens to cheer you and your Howie will be home soon. Hugs

You need a soak in a big bubble bath and a foot rub...and I'm only 4-ish hours away. You know you are welcome and Howie's airport is 10-ish minutes from my house. Rethink the 'burg...we're too big to do a lot of bickering here and it's so much warmer!

Count your blessings...those kids, grands new hens, and allow yourself a luxurious afternoon nap. I know how tough your shifts can be on you. Sorry about the cats and the woodpile...I like Rich a lot too! {He needs some sunshine too....hope he wins!}

I say, "let it rip"..get it all out! Sorry about all of this..sending you a gentle, kind hug! :D

It's Monday!!!!

I'm so sad about your loss. That is horrible that you have had two kitties die because of the race track ally! I'd be throwing out some nails in the ally and that might slow that down some :)

Moving wood stinks! Especially since Howie only had a few hours home anyway! Hopefully the next three weeks will go by fast and that you have a mild winter ahead of you. Plan a few trips to Sunny Florida this winter. Shame you can get your Mental health insurance to pay for it!

You know what you mean, there is something about that Toll house cookie recipe that doesn't always turn out for me either. I think it has to much butter or something! I rarely make that recipe just for that very reason! Just dip chocolates.

Wish you lived a little closer we could have a good old fashion pitty party!

The wood incident alone would make me cranky too! When I was growing up my brother got hit by a car that was going too fast down our ally. Thankfully, he survived to spend the rest of his childhood battling over TV shows with his sister. So sincerely sorry about your cats. :(

See, we all love you--tantrum and all. I think you are justified. I rant often. Don't tell me not to. That just makes me nastier. I too am so sorry about the cats. Dang hot rodders. It's probably people of all ages if truth be told. People can be mean. Especially in those metropolitan areas where they won't let you stack wood against the back fence. Damn urban sprawl. I think the food, jammies, book, and movie sound delightful. Especially if the husband is gone. Hunker down and eat.

Julie said...

I like you even more than ever! So glad you didn't delete this post.

I'm getting pretty cranky about my traveling husband these days too. So sorry about everything--especially those sweet kitties. :(

Ann Marie said...

Oh how I love the honesty in this post. I am heartbroken about the kitties. Seriously had me teary.. because I have also lost 2 this past few months in our city owned gully out back. I think foxes got them though...

Our wood is stacked on the city property.. on the other side of our property.. so now I am wondering if we will have to move the pile soon..

I think You and howie need a little getaway.. a break from canning.. rexburg.. and the gray..and sneak off to some sun where you can be warm and snuggle all you want.

Just sayin.

Hugs my friend. Love ya.

I've most definitely had those kinds of days. I'm sorry. Having a husband who is gone all the time is hard. Right now my husband is working nights and weekends and I HATE it. I hope you get that nap. Or maybe you should call a good girlfriend and go to a movie and eat chocolate! That always makes me feel better! :)

wendy said...

YOU GO GIRL.....LAY IT OUT THERE
I would have made "said candidate" help you put the wood BACK into the alley by your fence.
Seriously....2 dead cats??? that is horrible, I mean, mind you, I am not a cat lover (they are the pets of Satan..sorry) but HEY
if you loved em, then that sucks??

I didn't even know they HAD back alleys anymore. Sheeeesh, whatever happened to just parking in them and necking. That's what we did when I was a teen. (grew up with a back alley....enough said)

So give me a HIGH FIVE
on the hate daylight savings time
Dark !!!
Cold !!!!
yes, I guess I am a Tall 2 year old too.

And........here's another perspective my sweet friend. MY HUSBAND IS NEVER GONE (tee, hee)
I'm like.....isn't there something or somewhere you need to be today, like OUT OF THE HOUSE.
It's all about Balance isn't it.
Fine tuning the balance. Keeping the scales even.
whatever.
so go pout, and heck, just go to the bakery and BUY some cookies!!!

Sometimes ya just gotta get it off your chest !

I'm glad you didn't delete this post, and that you vented. We all need that sometimes!

I'm sorry about your 4 legged friends getting hit... that's terrible. Hope that it never, ever happens again!

Everyone hates the time change...and it messes up everything. It's going to take us 6 months to get used to this, and then you know what their going to do?? Change it back!!

Hope this week gets better for you and that you're able to 'smack weezie (remember that from Steel Magnolias?)

Sorry about the wood pile. So sorry about your cats. ((HUGS))
My husband is gone a lot and it's really cold in Southern California right now! Add some oat meal to your cookie dough and chill the dough before you bake them.

Connie said...

Oh ya, I think a nap is probably a good idea. Don't you just feel better getting all of that off your chest?

Kathy said...

Hey Dear,
We live in a small town and things seem so magnified here - if it weren't for our being here to serve God through the church....And I hate being away from my husband!
Feeling your pain!
Hope you're feeling better now! Big Hugs!
Kathy

Sorry about your cats. . .If you ever feel the need
to adopt, I could probably fix you up!
I married the 'cat whisperer' they
come from miles because there is always free food
at the Jeppesens!
Miss you,

Don't you dare delete this. Makes me feel better about being a tall, fat two year old. Damn cat killing cars. And I ruin no fail fudge every. single. time. But it'll be better when we wake up. I just know it. :)

You had me at 'damn'. I think I've been throwing a trantrum for the past 6 years.

Howie needs to come home. Momma needs a little lovin!!

That is seriously the best line I've ever heard ... when Goldie throws her (many) temper tantrums and I'm about ready to lose my cool, I hear a little voice whispering, "Remember when you threw that hissy fit yesterday?"

I'm sorry things have been stressful--sending you a long-distance hug!

I love you!!!! Thanks for making me feel okay about myself!! I know how difficult it is to have a husband who travels - mine lived in Ohio for a year!! A year!!! I hated it!

I know that your city has grown more than any other in Idaho! It's crazy - good luck with the ally situation . . . have you tried spikes!!

by the way, I love flat cookies! so in my husbands words, "you done okay kid!"

Gentle Hugs,
Barb

I think you actually have alot to be cranky about. Wish I could come grab you for a girls night out - we could go bar hopping or something (in RB Hee hee!!!! Guffaw!!!).
OK I am so sad about your cats. So sorry. I truly think the city should put speed bumps down that alley for you - they owe you@!

Julia said...

We all get to be tall two year old once in a while so I completely understand.

I hope that today will find you feeling better. Sorry about your cats being run over in the ally, even the toilet paper destroyer one.

I've spent countless evening alone at home because my husband went to University for 10 years in evening courses and know the feeling of feeling lonely.

Just crank up some good dancing music and dance with the broom or mop. JB

Hey, I'm not one to talk! I had my own hissy fit on Friday!

I'm so sorry your kitties got schmucked in the alley. That's never fun. :(

My favorite part of this post? 'Yes I said damn'.

It's good to get fired up sometimes and vent. But I do hope things are looking up for you now. If not, as they say, "If you don't have anything nice to say, come sit next to me!" ;)

tammy said...

Oh that is just sad about your cats. I'm so sorry!

I think they deliberately leave something out of that recipe, so you have to buy their tubs of already made dough.

Mikki said...

I am so sorry about your kitty cats! So sad, expecially when caused by someone else's stupidity. I like Gigi's idea. That'll probably work better than speed bumps.
Sorry your sweetie is gone again. That just sucks.

Apparently I''m a tall two year old every day. LOL

Hello, good morning. I'm sorry for the loss of their cats.
I also love my cat is 14 years old, her name is Shasha. In my country there are people who believe that when a cat dies it carries the bad energy of the house where he lives. So in fact cats are angels protecting our families.
Have faith. nothing like a day after another day. Not every Monday is good. but others will take place Mondays much better

I say you put up a sign in the alley that says something like, "I have a gun and this is not an interstate!"

Sorry about your cats, and your Hubby. I'm finally getting a taste of what it's like to have a traveling spouse. Not nearly as bad as yours for sure, but a taste alright, and I hate it!!

You should come visit me, and bring those chocolate covered bears, we'll watch a sappy chick-flick and chow down!

P.S. Have you ever tried chocolate covered gummy bears? Those are fun too.

A good nap always helped my two-year-olds feel better.

Hope the mayor was reelected.

I agree about the time change and it doesn't matter that we got an "extra" hour of sleep, I'm still tired and tired of the dark!
So, so sorry about your cats.

Darlin', darlin', darlin'. Oh, I miss you and your candor. You are splendidly splendid, my friend -- even on good-for-nothing-this-life-is-hard-and-i'm-tired-of-it-all days. Love yer guts. Hang in there.

I love the sign. You are entitled to have a tall two-year old day every now and then. :)

I didn't even know there were alleys in town! And gratefully Rich won, so you won't have to move anymore wood.

So sorry about your cat. That ticks me off. I have "Little Green Guy" if you want to borrow him. He's the green plastic thing you stick on a road side that holds an orange flag telling people to slow down. Seriously. If you want him, you can have him! (My # is in the phone book)

I understand about missing your husband. It sucks. And since you said your bad word, I said sucks.

I LOVE your post and LOVE how real you are, with even saying "Damn"!!

I feel SO badly for you and don't know how you survive with Howie gone so much!! I don't think I could do it.

I know how you feel with being grateful to have employment, but it would get old and by damn, I think it is okay that you throw a tantrum every once in awhile and let it all out!!

You are truly an inspiration for me...you are SO funny, positive, happy and such a JOY to have for a friend.

ENJOY YOUR LOVER, foot warmer and BEST FRIEND now that he's back home!
