BROODY AND CRANKY

Not me.
Lucy, my hen.
We have four chickens and they are ALL supposed to be laying.
Lucy has decided she wants to sit in the nest all day
and all night.
And NOT lay eggs!

For the last three weeks!!!

So Jon, my chicken pimp, suggested that I let this broody hen hatch out eggs.
If she wants to be a mommy, let her.

Jon has an amazing chicken operation.
He's hatching out hundreds.

So today I brought home a dozen fertilized eggs.

A DOZEN!!!!
I pulled Lucy off the nest and placed a dozen fertilized eggs in her nest.
Apparently they like sitting on a lot of eggs.
Not just one or two.
So in 21 days Lucy should be a chicken mama.
And should hopefully lay eggs again.

That is very interesting. I know nothing about raising chickens and eggs. Glad you have someone who can help you.

I was a little worried about you, until you reassured us that it is Lucy NOT you who is Broody and Cranky! Hope she likes being mama to all those chicks!

You are so funny today. I hope that all 12 chickens grow up to be great layers. You have a pimp for your chickens and I have a pimp for my cows, ha,ha,ha...

Take care, Hugs,

What a sweet chicken mama you are, giving your lil' gal some surrogate eggs to satisfy her need to nest! I think it's absolutely adorable and even more so when those baby chickies are hatching and running around!!

We are wishing all the best for Lucy in her mommie endeavors. I don't think we had heard of a chicken pimp before...now gave us a huge laugh. Can't wait to see Lucy's babies. I remember my granny putting hens under a tub when they wanted to set and she didn't want them too. I felt sorry for those hens. Hugs

It's funny I never realized there was so much to chicken laying eggs and that they could get moody. So are you keeping any of the babies when they come?

This whole post made me smile this morning. Chicken Pimp! I have been thinking of getting a few chickens so we could have fresh eggs. My hubby who spent part of his childhood raising chickens on one of the Church farms, is not so willing.
