Life without a Laptop

I was without a laptop for 2 1/2 months.
I suddenly found myself with a ton of extra time with a
few extra minutes each day.

I'm AMAZED at what I was able to accomplish!

I canned anything that stood still:
-7 roasts from last year's beef
-3 huge batches of tomato soup (Thanks Connie!)
-4 huge batches of salsa
-48 quarts of spaghetti sauce

This is just a small area of my canning mania!
I was giddy to be able to put my canning supplies away.

I had a little surgical procedure and recuperated under this:

Thanks so much Kim!!!
I can't believe the work you put into this!
It's like being wrapped in a hug!

I read So many books!
I love to read.
I read the Little Farmer Boy in a couple of hours.

It made me wish I had children at home to read to. I love the entire series of Laura Ingalls Wilder.
I also finished this again.

So now I'll start reading it again.

Most shocking of all during this time of computerlessness....
I did something unheard of!
Brace yourself.............

I ORGANIZED STUFF!
I might have taken it to the extreme.
I organized a book shelf and some of the computer tools and stuff Howie uses when he fixes computers. It was just "floating" around.
So I labeled it.
I have no idea what the stuff was...pokey thingy?
but it got labeled.

Scariest cupboards in the house was above the washer and dryer.
Open at your own risk scary!

Who organizes hotel soaps?

I get a little bit happy when I open those cupboards now.
Am I weird?
My purse wasn't even spared from my mania!

The the most shocking thing of all is that it has stayed that way!

I'm not but maybe I need to be.
I'm more of a hurry and shut the closet/cupboard/purse kinda gal.
If I can't see it, it doesn't bug me.

It snowed last week.

In fact, it's snowing right now.
I'm not sure how I feel about it.

And this little monkey came by.

With his baby brother.

And last.
Say a prayer for Wendy and her family.
She's a dear friend I've yet to meet.
She sorta came to a blog getaway last month that I went to.
I love her and my heart is with her.

Wow - you make me feel like a slob! All those canned food items look wonderful. Hope you are feeling well and I adore the afghan. Hard to imagine you have had snow. It has been in the 70's here in GA the past week. Yesterday, folks were driving around in convertibles!!!
Love the pics of your two "monkeys!" So very adorable. Enjoy the weekend.

I am tired just reading about all this work you have done. I love my little collection of hotel soaps.

I always save hotel soap. I use to send it to boy scout camp but I don't have any boy scouts any more. I wish it was organized like yours :) it is all so pretty, I need some one to organize me. I am a total wreck and can't seem to get myself straightened out.

That blue eyed baby can come live at my house!!! Such adorable GRANDS!! Lucky you.

I love canning. I canned 27 jars of pork loin, 9 jars of beef stew meat, and 9 jars of carrots last week. I got stuff to make more salsa so looks like I'll be canning that next week. My boys went to Kansas deer hunting and I do hope they bring me some meat to put up in jars!

Been praying so hard for Wendy and her family. It just hurts my heart.

Well stay warm my twin friend.
((hugs))

I am beyond impressed. The things you have done amaze me. Way to go!
That afghan is beautiful. I can tell you for a fact that my house is totally the opposite of yours, a total mess of disorganization.
I am so sorry about your friends loss. If you have her address I would love to mail her a handkerchief from For Your Tears.

Tauna I had to laugh at the hotel soaps and I am raising my hand. Only another woman who's husband travels would have the need and would understand!
But I also organize hotels soaps, shampoos and conditioners. It is amazing how many we have collected - Great for trips and camping though!!
I have hardly been able to look at the computer. I have been so sick about Wendy and her family and her son that I just couldn't read any blogs.

I have missed you here in blog land. But my, oh, my that is a ton of stuff you have accomplished!
I had a little procedure done too--am mending, not so much under a lovely afghan but with a lovely bottle of souper-de-douper pain meds. mmmm....
I am so sorry to hear about your friends loss--when my daughter found her boyfriend passed away in their apartment that is exactly how I felt. Like the world need to stop.

You canning Queen! It's amazing how much one can accomplish when not attached to a computer!
Love that you have so many hotel soaps! That's good storage right there!
I have a pantry that is completely, ridiculously, disorganized! I'm sure a 6 hour trip to help me with that task would be well worth it!

You have some dang cute grand kids.

I hope you're doing OK after your surgical procedure. Are you up and about and going to work now?

holy wow! Can you come and organize all my stuff and "thingies"? :) You crack me up! Medicated and motivated. It is amazing what can be done without the ol' computer distracting my time. This weekend, my internet went out (thanks Comcast), but my house looks nothing like yours!! Nice job!

oh man have i missed you! and seeing that snow picture, i'm thinking a trip is more than in order so i can "see the snow" and more importantly so i can see you!!! what is this little procedure, hullo?!? i love that afghan! i had the privilege of seeing it before you got to see it. running my fingers over it and soaking in the feast that those colors are was a treat and i couldn't wait to hear when you'd gotten it! Kim is soooo talented!!! holy bats, btw! canning may be an addiction? j/k. i admire you and your talents so very much. and your organizing is wonderful! i too organize any and every little thing (i ADORE my labeler!) including hotel soaps etc (did you know that they're PERFECT for 72 hour/ emergency kits---whether in the backpacks or in your car kits, they're so very ideal. we stash 'em in those kits in sandwich bags). so you're not alone. love you! again, uber congrats on your new lappy, and tell howie we send our hellos... ::hugs::

I love your organization. I'm so inspired, I am going to go start organizing my cupboards right now.

So happy you're back online! But it is good to have some time away, even if it isn't entirely intentional.

Wow!! When I have down time I ususally end up watching MTV and eating a whole bowl of queso by myself... :)

I've always wanted to try canning!!! Darn MTV always distracts me, though...
