After nearly 31 years....
Five offspring...
A bazillion diapers...some were actually cloth diapers when I was going through my "earth mother" phase. Glad when THAT ended! .
Years of lost sleep...
Spit up...
Stitches...
Broken things....legs, lamps, toys and teeth
Baby drool and snot....
Nearly 31 years of having my offspring think I was the most smartest mommy ever and could fix it all with a bandaid and a kiss on the forehead.
31 years!
I'm officially
an Empty-nester.
I'm not sure how I feel.
My hubby is in Canada right now. Maybe he should have postponed his trip...in case I fall apart.
My house is as clean as I left it this morning at 0-dark-thirty.
I came home and had cereal for dinner.
I ate the Charms out of the Lucky Charms.
I can hear the clock ticking. The house is so quiet. I'm not used to quiet.
I'm more of a chaos kinda girl.
I am bored.
I decided to clean out my purse.
I have a scalpel in it.
Is that weird?
Is there anyone else with a scalpel in their purse?
One of the docs was gonna use it for something, then changed his mind. It ended up in my scrub pocket.
Now it's in my purse.
Cuz ya never know when you might have to cut the umbilical cord or something.
Maybe I'll be useful with a scalpel..or not.
Maybe someone will need my awesome bandaid skills or forehead-kiss skills.
Cuz I'm an empty-nester.
And I don't think my offspring need them anymore.
What I don't understand is how 31 years went so fast.
Seriously it was just yesterday that I was bringing home my little baby girl.
And I was scared to death that I was gonna break her.
And the nurses were scared I was gonna break her.
(It might have been after nursing her for the first time and I was holding her and the nurse came in and asked me if I had burped her. I looked at her and said "oh, I didn't know how old they had to be before you had to burp them")
But I didn't break her and I went on to do it four more times!
31 years ago Jimmy Carter was the President.
Gasoline was 67 cents a gallon.
Our car was a Toyota Celica ST
Just yesterday right?
Somebody needs to tell me how I'm supposed to feel.

I might be cranky...
Because I do this:
I'm require to take:
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
NRP (Neonatal Rescusitation)
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Rescusitation)
TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Cirriculum)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
If I want to keep being this:
And doing this:
It's getting in the way of me doing this:
And it's taking space in this:
And apparently I only use 10% of it.
These certifications are due every year, two years or four years depending on which class. Somehow I've "managed" to have ALL of these classes due this year!
I know, I know.......call a Waaambulance!

Gone Away is the Bluebird
Here to stay.......
"oh, hello apple tree. Are you confused?"
"well you should be"
"hello patio furniture and grill"
"we WON"T be needing you this year"
"Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland" {insert whistling here}
So ya know those tunes that get stuck in your head and stay there all day...
and it's obnoxious????
Well...
If you live anywhere...
that is remotely above
freezing
This is gonna be stuck in your head today..........
but I'm not bitter or anything.

Best time EVER!
The view from my world today is different than the view from my world yesterday.
Yesterday:
Today:
My bare foot in ugly snow.
Not my bare foot laying on the poolside getting sunburned.
Laura posted a comment that she sensed that I was becoming hostile about having to come home. You read me like a book Laura.
It got up to a whopping 45 degrees today...whoopee
Near hot flash temps!whatev
It was so awesome to be in St. George.
I want to go back NOW!
It was nice to spend time with my son and his beautiful wife and my four grandchildren. They grew fins while we were there they were in the pool so much.
They loved the pool.
I loved the palm trees and the blue sky.
I also had the FABULOUS chance to meet some blog friends!
They were so sweet.
It was NOT like the other experience I've had before when visiting this fair state. You can read about that here if you want.
Anywayz.......
When April from Finally! found out I was visiting St. George she suggested meeting up with Shelle from Blokthoughts and Tonya from You asked for it!. Well YA!!!! I would love to meet them.
We went to Durangos and ate OUTSIDE....can you believe? We ate outside...in the sunlight!
All three of those goofballs were wearing jackets! What's with that???!!!
April has the most darling smile! She's the one on the left in the red sweater. Her laugh was funny and she's like the ultimate mom! She's my new hero. My goal is to be just like her. Thanks so much April for putting this together. I hope you got your coupons done and dinner on the table on time! insert snickering here!
Tonya was hilarious. She's wearing a black sweater and she's in the middle. She laughed a lot too. You could tell right off this is one spunky lady! Yup, she's a riot. I loved getting to know her. You can't tell from the picture but she has the most gorgeous head of hair! "Watch out Pantene commercials cuz here she comes"
Shelle was a little late but I was so happy to be able to meet her. I wish her cute face wasn't so hidden! Click on the picture and you'll be able to see her very nice eyebrows! (she'll understand that one) She has an easiest laugh, was so friendly and has the cutest smile.
I came to the conclusion that these ladies laughed a lot is because they are warm and have sunlight.
They were very fun to be around and I would have loved to stay for hours or follow them home until July. That's when we can be guaranteed to not have snow.
BUT, alas, the long and winding road was calling.
Apparently they had lunch with Crash earlier in the week.
These ladies are the nicest people on the planet and are total party animals!
If you are in need of some serious warm fuzzies, you gotta go there and hang out.
Thanks ladies for the best time!

View from my world {tonight}
This morning in St. George it was 75 beautiful sunny degrees.
I am home now.
It's 31 degrees....
not beautiful and
not sunny.
I'll post tomorrow about my fabulous lunch with some awesome blogger friends.
But it's difficult to type right now...
With a thumb in my mouth...
huddled on the floor...
in the fetal position.
I feel the life being sucked out of my sunburn

View from my world....{TODAY}
From flat on my back:
Looking left
looking right:
looking down:
Looking backward:
No, it isn't upside down.
I must say that THE POOL DOES RULE!
Biggest decision of the day:
Which side to burn next. I know...wrinkles, melanoma, premature aging...but you must understand....I'm sun-deprived in the worst way. I needed pure unaldulterated sun!
St. George is so gorgeous.
I think I'm not going back home.
I wonder how they feel about homeless Rexburgites.
We've enjoyed a beautiful condo, pool and of course the company.
She doesn't seem to notice the major wedgie!
Thanks Matt and Tara for the invite!
We've had such a great time.
Tomorrow I am having lunch with some bloggie friends. I'm pretty excited.
I'll get to meet April from Finally!
and Shelli from Blokthoughts and Tonya from You Asked For It.
I almost got to meet Crash cause she was in St. George, but the Universe told her to go home. I also thought that maybe I would get to meet DeNae.
We were in Vegas yesterday.
Ya, I thought maybe she would be on "the strip" beating up losers handing out cards. But I din't run into her.
I guess she doesn't hang on the strip.
Anyway, I've had a wonderful time here and I really don't wanna go home.
It's been warm and relaxing!
I hope it's starting to warm up at home cause I can't go back to cold.
If the snow isn't melted.....
Rexburg is FIRED!!!!!

Really?
This is a snowblower.
It is used is for winter.
We have horrible snowy winters here in Idaho.
Awesome piece of machinery to have for those winter blizzards.
NOT for the 5th of April!
Seriously????
I'm trying to be grateful for the moisture.
Idaho depends on water for the summer.
We need it for farming.
12 inches of snow expected for tomorrow.
It started tonight.
Took us 45 minutes to drive 25 miles tonight.
Last week I was trying to decide if I should go to St. George, Utah or not.
"hmmm....stay home or go to St. George......hmmmm, what should I do"
All I can say is that it better be warm and sunny when I arrive tomorrow evening!sunshine I'm tellin' ya!

{Tag} you're it!
So Romma-lama-ding-dong tagged me today.
I think she has a real name.
It might be Keeley or something really cute like that, but I just call her Romma-ding or Lama-Dong. for the life of me I can't figure out what possessed her to come up with that name for her blog....I may have to hold her down and give her noogies until she tells me.
She used to live in Rexburg, we may have even crossed paths, not knowing that years later when blogs were invented we would be friends.
Anywayz....she tagged me.
"Hey Romma-ding it's snowing here!"
So I must tell some stuff about me.
So here goes:
What song has captured your mind lately?
I can't get enough of 10 million fireflies by Owl City
It has the cutest lightest tune and the words are hilarious. I honestly will play it over and over. It doesn't really make sense but I love it.
What TV show do you catch regularly?
My TV is never on except on Tuesday night CBS at 7:00.
I mean seriously, isn't Mark Harmon the yummiest?
Our hometeachers came during NCIS....once....a quick karate chop and they didn't come back for 99 years
I really have a thing for gray-haired guys. Good thing too. If there is any doubt check out the yummy looking gray-haired guy on my sidebar. "Quit gagging kids, be grateful I love your father and besides you're all cute cuz of him"
What books really engage you?
I love books.
I love the smell of books and libraries.
I love touching books.
I love reading books.
I love everything about them.
My favorite of all time was The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom
I always like light reading by Nicolas Sparks.
The fatter the book the better, except the unabridged version of Les Mis. It took me an entire summer to read it and I hated it. So many words to get to the meat of the book.
What movies do you find yourself re-watching over and over?
I would have to say Jeremiah Johnson OR The Sacketts.
"this here's an Arkansas toothpick and it's real sharp"
I could listen to Sam Elliot talk all day and twice on Sunday.
I also bought Blindside last week and watched it twice in one day.
I love strong woman characters.
What is something that is over-rated lately.
Body-piercing.
Hands down.
Seriously the biggest babies we get in the ER crying cuz they're gonna have to have a shot in their bum are the ones with the most tats and piercings. Really?
I can't even concentrate on what people are saying cause I'm so fascinated watching them try to talk like normal people while they are fidgeting with the hardware on their tongue....and the teeth that are broken. And the lip piercings? Oh, and lip rings..."People don't you like kissing?"
and do they make it through airport security?
And another thing that is seriously over-rated.......CELL PHONES!!!
For reals!
Does anyone ever just have a normal conversation without their phones?
Does anyone drive without a phone attached to their ear?
I see these moms with little kids and the moms are gabbing blah blah blah on their phones and their kids are totally ignored.
I just want to walk up to them and smack 'em!
"Hang up the phone and talk to the people that are in front of you for pity sake!"
OK I think maybe I feel better now
What is the best-kept music secret you need to share?
Anything produced by Windham Hill!
Totally love all the artists.
I even met George Winston one time. Such an amazing artist.
I love their Celtic stuff.
Brian Dunning "We Follow a Star"
I love music that calms me. Occasionally I admit I am a wee bit high strung. I like music that calms the inner beast.
I also like Ryan Farish.
Oh, and Creed. ya, I know, NOT calming, but I like 'em.
What comfort food has been important to you as of late?
Peanut M&M's....chilled.
Junior Mints....chilled.
Peanut butter and jam on white bread.
I think the snow is getting to my normally very rational mind.
What is your favorite hiding places?
First fave: My huckleberry patch.
I love driving through the beautiful forests to get there and it's only 20 minutes from my house if I'm driving. 35 minutes if Howie drives it.
Second fave: I'm also like Romma-ding, I like being behind my camera.
Things look different through the lens.
Up close.
Focused.
Third fave: Again, I'm like Dinga-long, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the sunshine.
I am solar-powered.
Right now my batteries are in SERIOUS need of recharging.
I need me some sunlight and soon!
Do you collect anything?
No. It sucks the life outta me.
Favorite Beverage?
When I'm in control? Water.
When I'ma raging lunatic not in control? Pepsi.
What store do you frequent the most?
ebay
Who is your favorite male celebrity?
Mark Harmon or Tom Brokaw (best newscaster ever!)
Favorite female celebrity?
Probaby Abby on NCIS.
I don't know what she's like in real life, I just love how quirky her TV character is. Makes me wanna be a forensic scientist.
Favorite color as of late?
Sage green. I love that color.
OK, so there ya have it. Way too much info I'm sure. But thanks Romma-ding! It was sorta fun.
Now I'm tagging:
Mary, Ann(old fashion girl), Serene, Wendy (botox), Scrappy Girl, April and Kado!
Thanks for playing!
