Solo Performance

Last night we attended the Bel Cantos Concert and really had a great time. When Candice graduates, I've decided that I'll be very sad. For many years we have gone to baseball games, orchestra concerts, track events and Bel Cantos concerts, kindergarten performances, graduations.....sheesh, it's been a lifetime of this! It's been 22 years of going to these events!!!

Now what are we going to do??? I'm not sure Howie and I are exciting enough to be entertaining without children.

Is this what is called an empty nest? I must ponder on this for awhile.

I'm not sure I'm going to accept this part of my life. I may boycott empty nesting or have an election to campaign against having a nest devoid of creatures that eat you out of house and home......but I digress.

Anyway, we went to the Bel Cantos Concert and listened to Candice sing a little solo in one of the songs they were doing. She did such a great job. Her voice is a beautiful clear soprano...where did she get her talent? She looked as cool and calm as a cucumber.

She said she was scared and shaking like crazy, but it didn't look like it.

There were two other kids from our ward that performed that night. Janeal is in a womens choir and Jake is in Bel Cantos too.

Can you see her amongst the other choir members?

Anyway, I'm not sure that I'm ready to give up this part of my life. I think I'm going to go eat a bowl of fried chocolate!

There will be no fried chocolate involved, and she does look beautiful! I know she did a good job, because I'm sure she got her talent from you, just look what you can do! GOOD JOB CANDICE!!!!!!!!!!

That is so great that candice sings. I guess I did not know that. I'm sure that you and howie can find things to do. And I'm sure your kids will be back to visit and you will have grandbabies to baby sit. Or you could be like my mom and kids keep moving home!!

Trust me...it is a blast having the house to yourselves. Cold cereal for dinner if you decide. Go to bed at 9 instead of waiting up for teenagers to come home.

I've always loved Candice's voice. We moved into the ward when she was only 10 or 11. I can't believe she's almost ready to graduate! Do what my mom and dad do, TRAVEL! You two are wonderful parents!

Tauna, as talented as Candice is I'm sure there will be many more performances ahead, (even after graduation!. . .Empty nesting is sad for ohhh, about 2 weeks, and then you come out of your funk and start doing all those things you've never had time for, like ballroom dancing, hook rugs, yoga, communicating with your spouse again, ect. . .
