GARDEN OF EGAN

We planted the garden two weeks earlier than we ever have before.
I love seeing growing things.

Even the weeds.

After 8 months of gray and cold weather,
I relish anything green.

We had temperatures of 34• on Friday night and 80• yesterday.

Growing stuff here is a challenge sometimes.

I hope for tomatoes sometime in August.
The salt shaker is ready.

I was told we couldn't grow peaches in my neck of the woods.

So I planted one.
We'll see how that goes.

In the meantime, bring out the sun.

Oh - for a high of 80 degrees. That sounds so good. We were about 110 today! What a great garden! Hope you get a great harvest. Have a nice week.

My sister in Ririe has a peach tree and she gets stuff on it! We planted WAY later than normal so we're a little behind! Yeah for gardens!

Those rock/boulder things in your yard look so pretty!

We are suffering through temperatures of 112 degrees on some days. Ugh! But our tomato harvest has been glorious!

I see that you like big rock too. Your raised gardens are growing well and I love your mini hot house covers.
Your corn is high. I used to mulch my gardens with straw and it kept the soil warm and the weeds at bay but my garden was so close to the road that I was worried that some young kids would set it on fire. I loved walking on the straw and keeping my shoes clean.

I hope that your peach tree does well. There are micro climate every where. It's cooler in the front of the house because of the wind from the river and warmer in the back in some spots because the house acts as a wind break.

You'll soon be eating fresh vegetables. This is the first year in 47 years that I don't plant a vegetable garden.

Hugs,
JB

I wish I had planted a garden. I know what you mean about the weather. Every time I try it doesn't work.

Do you bottle tomatoes?

I haven't figured out how to garden much down here. I know people are successful at it. My neighbors always have a ton of tomatoes and spinach. The season starts so early here, by the time I think of it it's too late. Maybe if I ever move back to UT it's something I'll be better at.

You are a rebel...planting a peach tree when you were told it didn't grow well in your neck of the woods.
I like watching my garden come up too and like you, we haven't had any real warm weather yet. Things will be slow at this rate.

I like watching things grow too...JUST NOT MY WAIST LINE, which, despite no warm weather it is doing JUST FINE (groan)

It is like that in Wayne Co. can't plant flowers until June...your garden and yard show that you guys put a lot of work in it, looks so nice. Love the new baby chicks too!! :)

Your garden looks wonderful. Enjoy the fruits of your labor or veggies to be exact! Also good luck with your peach tree.

You have many talents and you ARE a woman of faith! I think all our fruit trees got frosted here, so I'm not expecting a big harvest this summer. I am enjoying lots of colorful flowers, all the green grass and mixed temps. I also love that "growing stuff is sometimes a challenge!" I remember in the burg, gathering up my green tomatoes and ripening them in pantyhose, and the peaches...you go girl. I love your spunk and your Garden of Egan is almost like the real thing, absolutely beautiful!

Your garden and yard is looking fabulous. I'm sorry I haven't stopped by your blog for such a long time. School and work is taking myself away from my own blog. Hoping for easier days ahead. Take Care!

My favorite tree is the Peach tree. They bring such happy memories of my childhood in my Grandddaddys orchard.
I do hope yours produces a gorgeous crop of peaches for you guys.
Every time I see your garden I am in awe of it. Love it and I had to laugh about the salt shaker being ready. You always bring a big smile to this ole face of mine.
Be well and enjoy your garden.
Love
Maggie

I love fresh fruits and veggies, but don't have enough time (or determination) to garden. Maybe someday. I hope you get some peaches...someday, at least!
