This is a significant historical place for members of the LDS faith.
We wore pioneer clothing, camped and ate outdoors.
We battled heat and mosquitos.
We had no comforts of home.
We trekked miles and miles through sagebrush and heat.
It was a great experience.
We were able to see historical markers of the Oregon Trail, Pony Express trail and Mormon Pioneer Trail.
I am so thankful for the Pioneer heritage that I have.

What a great experience! Martin's Cove is truly an inspiring and breathtaking place to be, I believe it is hallowed ground. Our pioneer ancestors were tough cookies, I'm so glad they paved the way for me! What a great experience to go on trek, I'll bet you had some really wonderful experiences with the kids!
Our stake did the Trek two years ago and the best part is listening to the kids testimonies the following Sunday.They are so amazing! I didn't actually hike with the families but wore the clothing, took pictures and encouraged them along the way. I'm glad you were able to go, I take it your shoulder is doing well?

It's a good thing I was born when I was because I don't think I could ever do that trek that they did then....now. Or even then. And as far as the treks they are doing with the Young Men and Women, I just pray they will never ask me. I love to go to Girl's Camp every year. But the trek? It would kill me. But what I think is so neat is being able to take them to a historic place like where you were. That's the way to do it.
That sounds exciting. I am so thankful for our ancestors and all they did to make life easier for us today. It was a hard life back then. I imagine the trek was a bit difficult and the heat awful since we are all so acclimated to AC and an easier way of life now. Hugs
