LAZY HOUSEWIFE

Yup.
That's me.

Today I went out to the garden and realized it sorta got away from me.

I love the garden.

Planting.
Watering.
Weeding.

Really I love that part.

Now for the HARD part!
Using the stuff!!!!

Too many cucumbers to just eat and not enough to make a batch of dills.

So I was the lazy housewife.

I made lazy housewife pickles.
These are my favorite.
Crisp and sweet.

I use the brine to make coleslaw.

Lazy Housewife Pickles

5-6 onions (that's the only size I have right now) or 1 large onion

8 cups cuke slices

2 c sugar

2 c cider vinegar

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

1/2 tsp celery seeds

1/2 tsp turmeric

1 Tsp salt.

Stuff the cukes and onions into quart or 1/2 gallon jar.
Bring brine to a boil. (That sounds like a nursery rhythm)

Pour over cukes and place in fridge.
Stays good for 3-4 weeks.
If it lasts that long.

Lazy housewife guilt gone.

I love those pickles but I call them Bread and Butter pickles.

Have a great weekend,

We call them Bread and butter pickles as well. At least you grew the darn things and did something with them. I have a garden spot and I'm not having much luck with the few plants we have growing (or not growing).

I can't believe that it's time to start using things from the garden!! I actually picked my first zucchini and cucumber yesterday! I love sweet pickles, especially on a juicy burger!!

These look so yummy....I love your garden. My Arizona garden is not doing well in temps of 120. Maybe I will try again in the fall. So far we have only had two small squash. They were good but small. Don't know if I gave you the link to my new blog. Took the old one private due to some security issues and am starting anew. Would love to have you visit, comment and follow if you want. Hope you are having a great summer. I envy your cool Idaho temps!

I love pickles. Glad you showed how to make some the lazy way. Because I would have it no other way. Since, I like to be lazy every chance I get. :)
