WHAT A WEEK!

Busy.
My two days off from the ER were Thursday and Friday.
I spent those two days in Zone Conferences for my new calling.

I drove to different towns each day and saw this:

The mission has a fleet of cars.

While the missionaries are in meetings and trainings, there were gentlemen in the parking lot checking the fluids and changing the oil.
I thought it was cute.
But then again, these are 19-21 year olds driving them.

Then I was able to just enjoy learning my job and listening to the training these missionaries received.
It was pretty awesome.
I was pretty tired from the previous days work in the ER and knew that my only two days off were going to be spent in these meetings.

I was a little overwhelmed and a little cranky.
I worried about how I would get everything done.

But then I walked into the room full of these sweet missionaries.
They give up two years of their "normal" lives to serve the Lord and others.

It was such a beautiful feeling.
I came away from both days so energized and humbled.
I feel incredibly blessed to be allowed to have this experience.
Next time you see those young men in their suits and ties with name badges or young ladies in dresses with name badges, smile and wave.
Invite them in.
You won't regret it.

Now my weekend is being spent in the ER.
Today was most entertaining.

Walked into 3 patients within 10 minutes of the beginning of the shift.
The third one.....

....well little first time momma decided she was going to deliver too early.
Prolapse cord and a foot first!
Yikes.
Thank goodness for a great L&D nurse.
I'm just a plain ole' ER nurse.

Within 20 minutes of getting to work there was a special arrival.
All 3 pounds of him.
He's a champ and doing great!

Can I just say I love working with Nita?
She didn't seem flustered at all.

Me?
I'm not sure my heart has stopped pounding yet!

And we left Becca unattended in the ER. She didn't even break anything!

You two look great. Nita is pretty cool, even for my mom.

As I've told you before, one of my best friends is an ER nurse. She is so exhausted on her days off so I can imagine how tired you are going to be by the time you get through your days on this weekend after not having any days off last week. I can imagine your blessings will be 10 fold though. :) I don't think the Lord could have picked a better person to fill this role than you. :)

Such a great post!

I didn't know how those mission cars got serviced - smart idea!

I served a mission in the Long Beach Office 2005-2007. Missionaries are interesting with those cars. We got one brand new one once that came in. Practically no mileage on it. It was assigned to two missionaries. On P-Day they were going to play basketball. On the way.....and on the 405 freeway in California....they decided to play basketball in the car tossing it to each other with two extra missionaries in the back seat.

The car was totaled.

Missionaries were okay.

They were assigned back to bicycles.

Loved that pic of you and Nita. I had no idea that mission cars were serviced; wow. Remember, you are in the learning phase of your new calling. It won't seem so overwhelming in awhile. :)

There's something about serving that renews and rejuvenates - it's like God infuses you with energy. Don't you just love it? I know I do. :) blessings, marlene

You know that I love ER nurses!!! I owe my sanity to the ER & MICU nurses that cared for my son after his accident~

There's just something about those Missionaries, huh? When we lived in AZ, we had opportunity to feed the Elders every week. We have some great memories of those humble, sweet young men.
What an awesome calling you have!

What a day - my heart would have been pounding too! That little 3 pounder shares a birthday with my late mom!

Thanks for sharing your feelings about your calling so far. You will be so blessed for sacrificing your little bit of down time. I hope one of those blessings is more energy than you have had before because it sounds like you're gonna need it. :)

You have been busy, busy but I bet after training it will slow down for you some. You are going to be fantastic in the missionary position. And if for any reason I ever had to go to the ER I would want you to be my nurse. You are one precious lady sweet Tauna. I am very blessed to have met you in the cyber world. Hugs

That pic of the missionaries cars being serviced is awesome. Something I am sure they would not think to take care of.

We enjoy the spirit of that the missionaries bring into our home each Sunday evening. As they work with our family. They are working to re-activate my Hubby as well as following up with my Bradley who took the discussions and was baptized this last summer.

You have certainly been busy. I think the dedication of giving their lives up for two years is simply amazing. What a blessing they are.

I'm kinda thinking these two jobs of yours are similiar...from saving souls to saving lives.
Every time I see the missionaries out and about I feel that little tug at my heart strings.
I remember when my 3 sons served their missions, whenever I'd see a missionary I'd hope "someone" was out there taking care of my boy and being nice !!!!!
hugs and love to ya
