Epic FAIL...FALLS! { AND an UPDATE!!!}

In the last 10 days I have fallen THREE times!

"hi my name is Tauna and I flunked charm school."
"Hi Tauna."

Fall #1: After work, outside of the Emergency Room.
I go to work at 6:00 AM and leave at 6:30 PM.
We had a day of freezing frigid weather.
Ice had formed on every verticle and horizontal surface.
The kind of ice that needs a jackhammer to get off the windshield.
Two steps on that stuff and I was down.
Just like in the cartoons...feet flying!
Other than my very-much-there-der·ri·ère hurting,
I was fine.

Fall #2:
The cement steps in my back yard.
I thought I had good footing.

I was wrong!

Once again I was the Cartoon Network.
Feet flying.
This time landed on my elbow.

Fall #3:
The Grand Finale!

Falling in church.
Not outside either!
I was going down stairs to an empty classroom.
It was crowded.
I thought I was on the last step.

But I wasn't

It wasn't pretty.

Did I mention I was in a church?

In the process I re-bruised my elbow.
Hurt both wrists.
Skinned my knees,
and sprained my ankle.

Oh my CANKLE!

Can I hear an "Amazing Grace" right now?

My body is like HDTV right now.
Vivid colors of black and blue.

I know all of these will heal...
...except my PRIDE!

Winter, I am so over you!

Now for the update!

There is a knock on my front door.
I'm thinking "hmmmmm, some cute college boy wants me to buy a security system."
He introduces himself as Emerson.

"Hi Emerson"

He's holding pink bubble wrap.
He says "my mom is Saime and she says you've been falling a lot and you need this!"
It was all I could do to NOT squeal! I'm sure I would have freaked him out.
He's a student here at BYU-I.
We visited for a minute and I sent him on his way with a little chocolate!
SO CUTE!
Thank you Emerson and Saimi! You made my day!
I'm going to have to take a picture of me with my elbows, rear and ankles wrapped in this stuff!

I'm kicking myself cuz I didn't get a picture of him holding the bubble wrap so you could see how totally cute he was!

  1. You did go right into church and pray after that last fall, right? Clearly you needed to.

    You poor thing!

  2. Every time I see that you put out a post I get all excited...BUT this one was not so much. I am so sorry that you fell and bruised yourself all up.

Glad your sense of humor still shines through all those bruises and scuffings thought.

Please try hard to keep your feet on the ground. I am with you on the winter stuff its time for spring weather.

    Hugs

  3. I am soooo sympathetic--and I can sooo relate. You don't know how many times I've fallen. I'm just a klutz. I'm sure with you it was strictly weather and conditions related. (Dang church shouldn't have so many steps!) Hope you bounce back. hahaha (I crack up my clumsy self.)

  4. Strange how the last step is always a doozy! At least you didn't end up in the ER with a bright yellow band stating you are a "Fall Risk".

Take care my friend and hope the cankle heals quickly so you can return to where this terrible string of "three's" started.

    Love you.

  5. if one must fall it's best to do it in the privacy of the home, don't you think. that way we don't have to worry about our pride. well that is if we are alone at home. have a better weeek!!!!

  6. ouch!
Check the soles of your shoes woman!
I haven't fallen in a long time, but I am always super careful about the soles on my shoes when it's icy/snowy outside.
    be careful!!

  7. Oh, I'm so sorry, not a bruise out there that hurts worse than the 'pride bruise'!
Can I bring dinner to ya? How about chocolate?
    Be safe,
    sj.

  8. Yikes! 3 falls?
Maybe you better stay in. We don't want anything serious happening to ya.

Grateful you didn't end up in the ER. Would they pamper you and give you special treatment?
Fan you and feed you grapes?

  9. Good thing you're okay!!! I might have giggled a little at each fall, but I'm still glad you're OK!

  10. No YouTube videos so we can mock, I mean commiserate, with you?

  11. I'm with Kristina p!!! lol I'm so sorry, it's not funny--but you really explained it so well that it made me... well laugh a bit! I know I know... I have no heart.

I love you though...dearly... and your dipped chocolates.

  12. there is something seriously wrong with ME. . .i am laughing SO hard right now. . .I am one of those people who cannot help but laugh when someone falls. It makes my husband SO mad especially when he is the one who has gotten hurt! I could watch the videos on Americas Funniest Home Videos of people falling over and over and I don't even have to see it happen. I can just be told the story-like yours- and I am laughing out loud just picturing it. . .its sick really. . . I am a nice person. . .

  13. You better lock yourself in the house for the rest of winter.

I was always so afraid I'd trip and fall on my way to/from playing the organ in Sac. Mtg.

  14. I have no idea who you are, but I randomly found your blog and have to tell you that I think you and your husband are completely beautiful.

  15. Ouch! Hope your bumps and bruises feel better soon.
When I was about 7 months pregnant with my first baby, I fell in the middle of the road! Stepped off the curb and down I went!
My mom fell at church once, coming down off the stand after saying the prayer~ so everyone saw her. :) She just got right back up and walked to her seat.
I actually have a fear of falling!

  16. Well at least I know what to get you for your birthday now!
One of those buttons "I've fallen and I can't get up!!".
Oh sorry was I mocking your pain?!! Oops

Hope you stay on your feet the rest if the winter:-)

  17. Oh my goodness! I feel so bad for you. I could just feel every hurt as you told of them. I have been there, done that..no fun! Take care of yourself my friend...slow down..no more falling! ;D

  18. Oh, poor you!
I remember straining my foot when I fell outside of church. It hurt SO bad!! Hope you're feeling better soon. Hope your loving man is home to take care of you. Take it easy girl! Maybe a scooter would be a good idea, just until winter is over?????

  19. Oh my gosh Tauna! Three times!! You poor thing, seriously I feel for you.
I fell on my porch step and bruised my elbow and buttocks but that was only ONE fall...THREE ouch!! I can't believe you lived to tell about it!

  20. this is not good news. Ouch! Hope you are on the mend, ego and all.

  21. Okay so sorry for all of your falls, but how awesome is the bubble wrap delivery! That is awesome. Too funny.

And yes, sometimes I think stairs multiply while I am on them as there always seems to be one more step then I thought there was.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Tauna, you're lucky you didn't BREAK something! Good grief! I want to see you wrapped from head to toe in that pink bubble sheet! Kind of reminds me of the scene from Fried Green Tomatoes, but we won't go there!
He's a lucky guy to get some chocolate for his trouble!

Just wondering how many people actually saw you fall in church and how many did you take out with your fall!

    Be careful out there!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh my, I am so sorry about all your falls. I can't believe you fell so many times. Sorry about your injuries. I do love the gift that your friend gave you! Take care and be safe.

  24. I'm so sorry. I know how much it hurts to fall on the ice. When we first moved to Toronto, this California girl went to walk the kids to the bus stop (the day after being released from the hospital after a two-month stay for dehydration, and I went out the door and my feet went out from underneath me and I landed on my bum (and I guess my wrist--since I broke my wrist)

But (no pun intended) I only fell ONCE.

I think that bubblewrap may come in handy ; )

    ReplyDelete
  25. Do you have shoes to go with that bubble wrap?

I have a walker that isn't being used right now. Should I send it over.

    Hope you feel better.

    ReplyDelete
  26. HA! Tauna I DO want to see you wrapped up in all that bubble wrap! I couldn't resist!!

By the way, my son say's your a super nice lady!! I do agree!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I love LoVe LOVE that Saimi did this!!! Too hilarious.

just be sure to wrap your legs individually - I highly doubt hopping on ice would be advisable given your level of grace :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!! that's AWESOME!!!! not that your pride is injured, but that bubble wrap is the shiz! :) and for the record, i too fell down those same danged stairs in the middle of church! >P

    ReplyDelete
  29. Can I borrow the bubble wrap? I fell down tonight on Porters driveway, in full view of others. Then I slid while I was down. Good thing Jeff was there to rescue me.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yes Saimi! Your son was so cute!
It was fun to meet him. I told him I'm inviting him and a couple of roommates over for Sunday dinner.
    He sorta started drooling.

I'm also going to have DeNae's daughter...I got to meet her last week and also Victoria's son come over.
Those are the only blogger offspring at BYU-I that I know of.

I'll probably do it all together cuz I'm lazy like that.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Okay, that's a good one. I could be friends with that lady. Also, I once fell in church on my way up to lead the music, the AC caught my flouncy skirt and blew it over my head to reveal my bloomers underneath. So. Not. Cool.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Girl, you didn't tell me about the other falls! I am so sorry. I know it isn't your age, seeing as you are having a birthday this week! It really is the ice, but wait, ice isn't in the church. The Lord is just keeping you humble. Hope things melt soon.
You are just to kind to send that boy away with chocolate! I bet he was like, "what do you want me to do, Mom??? Take bubble wrap to who??"

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh WOW and OUCH!! The bubble wrap was BRILLIANT! cAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS PICTURE OF THE pink sYAY pUFT mARSHMALLOW WOMAN!!!

LOL! NOW I see my cap button was on and I'm too lazy to fix it... Sorry.... you get the idea! LOL!!

    (((HUGS)))

  34. OH! If it makes you feel better, I was going to take a group picture of the adults going on Trek (PreTrek run) and tripped in front of them all... not even on anything but my 2 left feet... LOL! More injurious than usual due to caring more about the camera... I regularly trip just walking... I LOATHE the ice, too... Maybe you should wear "ice" shoes whenever you walk outside... OH WAIT that won't help in the church building... *sigh* Yes, that one would be the finale... ;D

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh, man... falling church. That stinks!

But the bubble wrap cracked me up. So so funny!

I hope your bruises are healing up.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh man... I accidentally kicked the banister of my stairs as I was running up this morning. I think I may have broken my toe... :( AND I paced for ten minutes because it hurt too bad to sit still, and I didn't notice I was tracking blood from a gash... Not good.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Get some crampons and use them..too dangerous! Do people use those where they so much winter and ice? lol..I not even sure if that is how you spell it! I know I wouldn't last very long walking on any kind of ice...now a days that is what I am super careful of..I don't want to fall anywhere anytime...too big of a baby anymore! though I do think my hubby would take care of me...lol..I just came over from Just call me Jo...

  38. Next thing ya know, Pink Bubble Wrap will be all the fashion rage!
    You're such a trend setter!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh OUCH! I love the bubble wrap!
I can so relate whether there its icy out or not. I fell in a room full of my husband's business associates and wives at LAKE TAHOE with a very LARGE platter of relishes. His boss caught the bread bowl with all the ranch dip in it after it sprayed him in the face. There still LOVE to bring this incident up.
I hobbled back to our little cabin and nursed my PRIDE while my sweetheart nursed my black and blue cankle.
I hurt for you and hope you mend quickly!

    ReplyDelete
  40. LOL
I never thunk of bubble wrap for "sporting" events.
We have given some to Middle daughter for gifts before just because she loves to pop them.
I guess you better steer clear of her when you are wearing that stuff.
    Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Could you take a little of that over to my daughter? She's six months pregnant, and I'm afraid this winter may be dangerous for her!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh wow! I am so sorry. I can relate though. I have fallen or slipped a few times myself. Dang Ice! I hope you heal up soon. I LOVE the bubble wrap. That was an awesome idea! :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Your the kind of gal, that in your medical chart, we would list your fall risk as 'high'

Sorry friend - maybe you need some rubber soled shoes?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Wow!! That is so sweet! Pink bubble wrap.

I wish you had a picture of it wrapped around you though. That would be awesome.

  45. 23 years ago, just a couple weeks before giving birth to my darling daughter Lauren, I fell down in church, too! Picture this: I'm the ward chorister for Sacrament Meeting. I'm all huge and pregnant, so I foolishly decide to wear high heels to church so I can feel somewhat cute. Right after leading the closing hymn and after the closing prayer, I start down the steps from the podium area and trip and fall into the piano pit, right in front of everybody! Awkward!
