{Just Because I Can...}

I was a hairdresser.
Worked in a few salons.
I cut hair.

I colored hair.
Ratted hair.

Permed hair.

I have all the stuff to do hair.

Even though I don't work in that profession any more.

I still do hair.
My better half always has a nice haircut.
Occasionally family.
Occasionally friends.

I even cut my own hair.

When it was long it was easy to cut.

Now?
Not so much.

I don't have eyes in the back of my head.
I couldn't quite tell the angle I was cutting.
It was mostly by feel.

Just because I can cut hair...

Doesn't mean I should!

(Worst hack job ever!)

  1. So... you cut your own hair?
I am pretty sure you look good bald too. :)
You are a woman of MANY talents. :)

  2. Ahahaha!!! That reminds me of what my husband used to say. I cut our boys hair when they were tots, and did a hack job. But we couldn't really afford otherwise. Finally, my husband took them to a pro and said, "Lis, you do soooo many things sooooo well. But cutting hair just isn't one of them." And he was right. But I was still mad. :)

  5. I'm totally jealous of my friends who have long enough hair to cut it on their own. Also, you should definitely post pictures:)

  6. I'm not a hairdresser, but I still give all my boys, and husband, haircuts. Sometimes it's really great, and sometimes, it's not so good. But I'm free, so we make do. :)

  7. I wish you could come on over and give me a trim!!! The prices over here are CRAZY and by the looks of these "professionals", I'll be going un-trimmed for quite some time!

  8. Dang! I bet it still looks cute on ya.
Hey, If I drive up there will you cut my kids hair for me? I'm seriously considering taking the scissors to them this week, and that never turns out well.

  9. I'm sorry for your loss. I will pray for you. You really need a winter project or you will be bald!! Maybe you should take on raining your 4 cats to do the laundry or something like that.

  13. I have not had any training as a hair dresser. Hubby and I have been married over 41 years, I have cut his hair all those years and cut all the kids hair when they were still at home. I also cut a friends hair and mine. I have put in perms and color. I am so tired being a hair dresser that is not a hair dresser. How does one get to the point where they can stop? Hugs

  14. Ummm...sorry for your loss?

My #2 just graduated from Paul Mitchell and it is so nice to sit in my kitchen and have my hair done!

Not sure how to comfort you best--but can I just say that as long as your hair doesn't look like that woman's in the "ratted hair" photo--I think you're okay...ack!

  15. LOL I cut my hubbie's hair too and sometimes his ear too...really! LOL

  16. I can't cut hair at all--and even though my husband is pretty much bald, I won't even do his hair ; )

  17. I tried cutting hair once and it was nothing short of hilarous!! No skills here - ha ha!
I always wondered who cut the hair of people who cut hair (kind of like if a woodchuck could chuck wood) now I know!!

  18. Once right after we were married my husband got a "real" haircut after I'd attempted to trim it. She asked him who cut it last and he said, "Oh, just some girl I know."

And that was the last time I cut his hair. Thirteen years ago.

  19. I thought we were supposed to outgrow that by age 4?

  20. Oh no! I am barely brave enough to cut my own bangs! Though I never was a hair dresser.

  23. I'm getting my hair cut short on Thursday. Your post has filled me with trepidation.

My hair is too thin these days to survive a hack job!

    =)

  24. The hardest thing is to find someone that can cut short hair...really is a talent! Right now I have a pretty good guy to do it but still not "punky" enough for me...they just don't want to do it on an old(er) lady...lol..I swear if I had enough nerve I shave my head and see how it grows out...

  26. I'm afraid to cut my hair ever since my mother taped down my bangs, cut, cut unevenly, cut again. I had tiny bristles sticking straight out of my hairline. I was not a popular child, alas. Thanks for stopping by. I always love to hear from my fellow Idahoans. Yes, we picked those oranges a week before Christmas. It's warmer here, but it's not Idaho.

  27. WAIT!!! I want to see pictures! I don't even dare cute my bangs, so the fact that you would attempt to do anything to your hair, hair dresser or not.

  28. Uh oh, that doesn't sound good at all! Oopsie!

  29. That's really interesting. At least you can do your husband and help others with your talent.
