Reality TV

Tonight the TV was on.
Tonight I was baking a cake.
Suddenly there was a very VERY bad smell.

I looked in the oven to see if my cake was stinky.

Nope.
It wasn't the cake.

It was smoke coming from the TV.

(No this isn't really my TV)

My better half is in New York.
My motto is "if something breaks while he's gone, I'm getting a new one.
I have a bad track record of broken stuff while he's gone:
cars (no I've never bought a new one)
washers (yes, I did buy a new one AND a matching dryer.)
carpet (yes, my carpet broke and I bought brand new!)
and now
TV.

I don't think I care about the TV though.
except NCIS.
"I'll miss you Mark Harmon"

  1. You lead an exciting life while the husband is away! As I recall you climbing and breaking into your house once....Doesn't that count too!

btw, who needs a t.v. when you have a computer...you can watch anything on a computer...just saying!

  2. You're right Saimi! I had forgotten about locking myself out of the house and climbing a very tall ladder to fight off potential spiders and bats to BREAK out a screen so I could BREAK into my house.
Ya, Howie needs to stay at home ALWAYS.
    I can't much more excitement.

  4. I hope you don't go into convulsions. I would have tremors from lack of TV.

  5. I think I saw that Candice had a TV disaster too. Maybe you can get a deal on two TV's. You poor girls.

  6. You have the worst luck with things! Well, Christmas is here and the TV prices are finally decent, good luck! ;D

  7. We just bought a TV for Christmas. I wanted a nice 46" but husband said we had to go big so we ended up with a 55"

  9. Girl, I worry about you!! But I swear we live the same life sometimes! Everything we've got has just starting to fall apart including ME!!! Sorry about the TV. Now would be a good time to get another one. Just say Merry Christmas, Howie, I bought you a new TV, now pay for it.

I'd be lost without a TV. The weather channel is my favorite. It is on right now and the temp is 32* and the wind chill is 28* It will go up to 49 today. It is 28* in Washington DC. 34* in Provo, 19* in Birmingham. Sorry, I can't help myself.

  12. You really have bad luck with electronics lately! Hmmmmm... It's a little fishy that these things happen when your hubby is gone... ;)

  13. I'm glad that's not really your TV - because I'd have to give you a big "good riddance for bad rubbish" - that thing is ANCIENT (as in... you know, older than US!)

I don't really watch TV anyway - Hulu is my new best friend...

because really, with 5 kids and ONE television, like I'd ever get to watch what I wanted anyway :)

  14. Broken carpet--I love it. And I can't imagine that your husband would ever be upset over a new TV. I saw go for it:)

  15. Girl, your Hubby will want to chain himself to your house! Heeehehehe!

We had a trucking company for several years and I would sell stuff like boats (a man only needs one boat..right?), combines..etc. while he was on the road.

Ya have the weekend to find a grand deal on a TV so you won't have to miss NCIS. Oh please don't disappoint Mark!

God bless ya and have a most splendid day sweetie!!!

  16. Know what? I don't think it was your television. I think it was your wedding ring. You might need a new (larger) diamond. Or maybe it was your car. Might need a convertible. In fact, buy them both, just to be safe.

  17. 1. How on earth will you live without TV? I might as well cut off my left arm (right one is for my cell phone)
    2. How the CRAP do you break carpet? Really? There has to be a good story behind that one.

    xoxoxo

  19. sheesh and this on the heels of your laptop?! wow. too bad the tv didn't burn up just before black friday....could've snagged a decent one for mere ducats! :)

  20. Yes, Mark Harmon will truly be missed and I hope that you can still see that hunk of a man on your brand new computer ;)

I wish I had your luck. The things in my house that are near death won't die!!! So I have to hang onto them until they do. Once they do, I'll let you know, maybe the trick is to send Gordon away. It just might work ;)

  21. Yea verily, Mark Harmon can be found on the internet. CBS.com will have all the NCIS and Mark Harmon your cute lil' self desires! Whoooooo needs tv anyhoo?!

  22. You're like my next door neighbors (you probably know them). When the wife leaves, the husband makes a big ticket purchase... which, this month coincidentally, was a big screen tv and blue ray player ... something must be in the air!! :)

  23. Thank goodness it wasn't the cake. Stinky cake.....that's funny.
I love your motto.....it is reasonable. IF SOMETHING BREAKS, you must get a new one. That is one of the job hazzards your hubby will have to deal with. Maybe he'll have to negotiate that with his boss's at raise time.
The wife has a IF SOMETHING BREAKS clause. That'll cost you.

I keep wanting to call you Tauna, but every time I try and talk to people I end up bawling. It is rather pathetic. I'll get a grip one day and call you for a chit chat.
    hugs

  24. Sorry to hear that. Glad that you didn't have a fire and are safe. I have a color light going out on my tv in my office and I'm already asking for a new one! Funny, right now every show is Red & Green, very festive!

  25. What were you watching that would cause your TV to smoke?
You going to surprise your hubby with a big screen?

    Glad your cake was fine!

  26. I think I'm going to have to adopt that philosophy ; )

Enjoy the new TV--We watch NCIS around here, too.

  30. You are right on the agravating truth! With traveling husbands everything does break while they are away (at play. NEW YORK and HAWAII = PLAY in my book.)
I remember the station wagon which hauled 6 kids to early morning seminary got it's windows shot out when my hubby was gone...darn, I missed the chance of buying a corvette! This is just one of the beGILLION things that happened when mine was traveling.
*Waiting for our TV to smoke...oh please, oh please...

PS Do you know a dear friend Pamela (Packer) Lynne? She told me this week she pays many visits to the ER there.
