My trash was KICKED!!!!

This past weekend while NORMAL people were out celebrating parades, picnics, fireworks and family.....
I wasn't.
My job makes me ABNORMAL!
I was in the ER
getting my
TRASH KICKED!

Drunk people+driving=stoopid.
Picnic+warm potato salad=well....you can fill in the blanks here.
Sun+skin=pain.
Sand Dunes+dirt bikes=broken parts.

While I was at work in my ABNORMAL life my family was all here.
On Monday we did a little of this:

Floating and playing with the cousins.

Speaking of stoopid:
Tauna+butcher knife cutting cantalope at work=6 stitches in the thumb this morning.

(Oh well...at least I was at work.)

  2. Adam was working in Wendover this weekend, and surprisingly, they didn't get super crazy calls. Apparently, they were all with you!

  3. You got stitches--while at work--in the ER???? That is awesome.

  4. ugh woman!
ok, no stitches for me this year. instead i was cuddled up in my sleeping bag, on the trampoline, after a full day of church + new meeting house dedication + 13 y/o birthday celebrations, sleepily admiring the husband's bottle rocket celebration. about 500 bottle rockets is all we have left from our firework arsenal/stockpile we brought back from Idaho & Wyoming when we moved home 2.5 yrs ago.
was still a bit girls-camp-hungover and MORE than ready to slow down. =) not gonna lie, could've totally slept out on the trampoline all night.
    damn UG sprinklers!

  5. Well actually that is really thoughtful of you promoting work at your own ER
    cutting your thumb
    needing stitches
securing your own job security (does that make sense??)
    ouch
What do you do for mosquito bites....I have like 100 on my body about now.
Wendy + naked on the porch= mosquito bites.

  6. I was in the house watching Independence Day. Ignoring everyone. Grandkids not here. I'm jealous of Wendy. I want to be nekked on my porch...with no bites. Going to St. Anthony next week...

  8. I can't believe you cut your thumb Tauna! 6 stitches!
I was listening to the news at the end of the 4th and I cannot believe how many accidents, fires, and general crazy accidents with fireworks were reported. I can't even imagine how swamped you were.
Glad you got to sneak a little family time in there!!

  9. Crap-a-doodle on the 6 stitches. Tell me, did you sew it yourself or head to the ER where you work?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh your poor thumb. That's gotta hurt. Sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  11. yeah... what better place to nearly de-thumb yourself but the ER?

    ouch.

ManOfTheHouse doesn't even allow me to handle the new sharp knives - too many scars from past knife adventures I guess. That and my deathly allergy to Canteloupe is all that separates my Klutzy self from your adventures :)

  12. Oh man!! That's one way of getting out of cutting your own fruits and vegetables.

Or were you just doing an "Ad" for your hospital?

  13. Niiiiiice...teach YOU to cut up cantaloupe. Seems to me the lesson here is not to eat anything nutritious. You don't need a knife to open up a bag of Cheetos.

  14. You poor thing...what a tough weekend and stitches too...dang it girl! Hope this weekend is better! :D

  15. Oops! I guess if you're gonna need stitches, an ER is a good place to be! I hope you got special treatment...especially after having to deal with all the weekend stupidity.

  16. Oh my gosh Tauna, 6 stitches! Ouch! If an accident was going to happen, at least you were in the right place at the right time!

Hey, did they at least send you home after the incident!?!

  17. YIKES!
That canteloupe has it coming! Was it a good canteloupe at least? Sheesh.
Sorry U had a bummer weekend at the ER. I know that is not where I like to go. (Unless of course I'm working there, then maybe its not so bad.)

  18. Your holiday did not sound like much fun. Sure sorry about the thumb, hope it heals quickly. Hope you get some time off to relax and enjoy something you love to do soon. Hugs

  19. Warm potato salad?! Ew. Gros and ew. Cold poltato sald is bad enough as it is.

Sorry your life was abnormal/crazy. Bless you for all you do, though:)

  20. I hope that cantaloupe was worth it! So sorry you had to be in the ER with all the Stoopids!

  21. OH MY GOSH... YOUR FINGER... I threw up a little in my mouth, but poor thing! I hope it heals quickly!

  22. I'm going to follow your lead and take myself to the ER before I hurt myself next time. Awesome strategic thinker!!!

  23. Do you qualify for Workman's Comp? that might make it a little bit better.

I spent July in the hospital two years ago, and I was very grateful not to be there this one.

    Good luck with recovery.

  24. Ouch! Your thumb looks like it hurts! I'm thankful for you sacrificing your time to work on holiday's to take care of all those stoopid people. It could be me some time! :) Thanks to Nurses!

  25. We could compare injuries. Mine was equally stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Nice planning on your injury! Looks painful though. Sorry :(

  27. Ok, Google is being so naughty tonight. I'm trying to post comments but it's taking like forever to load them.
    whatever.
Yikes Tauna!! nasty cut. So glad you didn't lose your thumb. SO sorry you had to work when all the idiots were at their peak.

  28. I sure hope I am at work when something really bad happens. Maybe you should have come work where I work, maybe your weekend wouldn't have been so abnormal. Or then it could have been because our hospital was very abnormal. While all the other hospitals were slammed we got down to 3--yes you heard right 3pt by July 5th. Can I just tell you SWEET!!!

Have fun with Howie :) Love you too.

  29. I love your new back ground wall paper! Really summery, cute.

First your back and now your thumb?? I'm shocked at the sight of your thumb!?!? You could have lost that thing and then how were you gonna pick huckleberries??? Did you get to go home early :) Remember that the next time you want to cut out of there.

Well one things for sure, you could never be bored at your job! Because there will always be stoopid people!

Sure hope you have a funtastic weekend!

  30. Braden said it right! :) That's funny, in a "I'm hurting for you but it's funny!" sort of way!

  31. Every year, at my parents house, we watch the neighbors across the street get a little TOO energetic with the fireworks... and about half the time, we watch them jump in their car to head to the ER. So, I would like to add
Excess testosterone + fireworks = Stupid! (yet entertaining for the innocent bystanders across the street).

  32. My husband worked Saturday and Sunday nights and his trash was kicked, too. All the crazies getting drunk/burned/dehydrated/cut with knives wile cutting cantaloupe...

    ReplyDelete
  33. OH no you poor thing. You better leave those knives alone. Good gosh girl I could not make out the thumb at first and almost fainted.
What would we do without people like you working when everyone else is out doing foolish things.
I don't miss those crazy days at my work and especially around the holidays. Can't believe I have been out this long and have no clue when I will be released to go back.
I do miss working here on the ranch just pray she saves the job for me.
Thanks honey for always sending me words of encouragement
    Love
    Maggie
I had a medical question for you the other day and now when I am here visiting can not for the world think of what I wanted to ask you.
Got to get back in bed

  34. OH NO!!! This is awful! I am so sorry!

  35. Tauna, You always give me my laugh for the day! You have such a clever way with words!!

I am SO glad you didn't cut off you thumb!! WOW...six stitches. It looks painful. Hope you are able to heal and recover without much trouble. That is a bad spot to cut yourself. I've cut my thumb before. You don't realize how much it helps with your hand until you have it bandaged up and not able to use it much.

You have such a handsome family and do so many FUN things together!

Hope your weekend was enjoyable and relaxing to make up from getting your "trash kicked" this week! Hopefully, next week is a better one and less hectic and happy recuperating!

  36. GROOOOOOOSSSSSS! Stitches --- eww! ;) I knew you were efficient, but really?!? Cutting yourself in the ER? Do you plan on dying in 50 years at the mortuary? Love yer guts!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm sorry but I'm laughing about the warm potato salad--I know I shouldn't, but seriously people still do that.

    Sorry about the stitches--OUCH.

    Have a great day.

  38. I leave you alone for a week and you go and pull a stunt like, trying to chop off your finger??

What am I going to do with you?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I can only imagine how busy you had to have been. People do crazy things. The holidays have to be the worse.
