JUST SOMETIMES.....

Just sometimes...
When you work in the ER you take care of a 2 year old with a broken leg.
(Spiral fracture on the tibia)
And that 2 year old happens to be your grandson!
Just sometimes...
You go to the orthopedic doc a few days later to help mom with the 2 year old.
And he gets a rigid cast.
Just sometimes...
You realize NOTHING is going to slow down a 2 year old.

  1. This is the same break Micah had a few years ago. Nothing slowed him down, not even going to kindergarten on crutches.

  2. I love this post - I was moaning today while walking about some muscle spasms I was having. I want to be like your 2 year old and let nothing slow me down! blessings, marlene

  5. That is one of the greatest lessons our kids can teach us. No need to let life defeat us, we can defeat it and keep living it! :)

  6. I bet he was so glad to have his gramma there! Poor guy. My youngest daughter broke her arm when she was 2 and used that cast as a weapon against her brother and sister.

  7. Well your cute little grandson might have been unlucky to have broken a bone but he was very lucky to have his pretty grandmother working in the OR that day.

A 2 year old will heal very fast. Speedy recovery to the cute busy little guy.

  8. oh man! what a 2 yr old! wish i had a rigid cast to at least ATTEMPT a slow down in my life right about now. just sayin'.... a cast-like brake to engage would be helpful... kinda like a grown-up's life-version of an E brake. am i alone here?
    love you!

  16. He's so cute! It's good these little ones heal so quickly, but it breaks our heart to see them in pain.

I can't think of a better nurse to take care of him than his grandma!

  17. Oh my heck, that poor kid. I think I would struggle watching that little guy be in so much pain. Surprisingly, he looks ok. Amazing that he keeps going; kind of like the energizer bunny. If you were here, I would buy you a Diet Coke or something. I need one for you!

  20. That's really sad, but I love how it doesn't stop him! It's funny because were we to be in that same situation, we'd be all limpy, groany, whiny, and immobile!

  21. Oh wow!! I bet it was hard for you to see that!! But it is great you were able to be there with him when he was injured. And I love the last picture!! I hope I have that same kind of "face the world with courage" approach to life!!

Two year olds have so much energy.. spunk.. and determination!

I think they truly can do almost anything!

    Hope he heals quickly...

  26. How lucky he is to have you to help nurse him !

So sorry for him that he has a broken leg, and a heavy cast.

He's a cutie-pie, and it's awesome how he's not going to let a little thing like a broken leg slow him down.
    Ah...little boys.
