A CHRISTMAS POEM

Twas five days before Christmas
and all through the house...
The shopping's NOT done.
I feel like a louse.

The days off from the Emergency Room
were planned to the MAX!
Wrapping presents and cooking
and taking time to relax.

But what occured was NOT in the plan
A trip to the hospital to spend days with my dad.
"What's with that cardiac rhythm?"
Turns out it's not that bad.

So back to work I go,
for three upcoming days.
Still have lots to do,
I'm sure we'll find a way.

What is really the best...
in this crazy time of year,
is loved ones and health
and "Do You Hear What I Hear?"

So things might not be perfect.
Things just might be late.
The chocolates still sit...
please try not to hate.

Things might not be what I wanted.
Things will remain somewhat undone.
But the things that matter most,
Is the Birth of the Son.

    Fantastic poem!
    Life always seems to interrupt our perfectly laid plans. :)
    We spent some time at Urgent Care this week (daughter has cracked ribs and sternum from a fall at the tumbling gym...)

    My thoughts exactly, except the trip to the ER and the sitting chocolates, mines pumpkin chocolate chip bread.

    Just so you know, Toys R Us (at least out here) is open 24 hours a day till Christmas Eve, so if it's the grandkids you need to do shopping for, you can do that any time :)

    Sounds like we were in the same iambic pentameter today. Glad your dad's ok. Hope Christmas in the ER isn't too bad. Watch for Heidi next semester. I think her rotations are at Madison.

    Hope your dad is a-OK that is definately the most important.
    Everything else will get done or it won't but Christmas will still come and be lovely.

    I have NO excuse to leave so much undone this year. No excuse at all! But here it is, 4 days before Christmas and I still have lots to do.

    Goodness honey you can even write poems.
    Your right somehow someway things will get done. I am just sorry that your running around like me trying to finish it all at the last minute.

    Glad dad is okay and back home! That's the main thing!

    Just give all the crazy sick people at the ER a shot of chocolate and send them on their way!

    MOST of the time my plans never go right!! That makes you even more special being able tp roll with the tide!!!
