Immediately.
If not sooner.
I made this bench years ago.
It might look flimsy because it is.
It might look Redneck I'm OK with that.
But it was barnwood from my Grandpa's farm heaven on earth.
It brings such comforting memories for me.
I love it.
Howie built these raised beds about 11 years ago for our vegetable garden. I love them! It makes gardening so much easier.
"No Gigi and Mildred....I am not eating tomatoes yet.
But I'm not bitter or anything!"
I have never planted a garden this late in the year ever. It's been so cold, I don't know what we'll get.
We planted cantalope today under black mulch....such an
Maybe we'll have a really HOT HOT summer and fall.
Pretty please!!!!?????
The daily highs of 65 degrees is not gonna cut it!
Thank you again Barney and Della.
The plants from Willard Bay Gardens are so gorgeous!
Such a crazy year for weather? Makes me wonder if next year we'll have a drought?
ReplyDeleteOur highs have only been in the mid 70's, the flowers and tomatoes are finally starting to come around!
And raised beds...the ONLY way to go:)
The blogger above had said what I wanted to say... I'm a bit slow, sometimes...
ReplyDeleteIt's looking fantastic - coming along nicely!

ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful. I love that your bench has special memories of your Grandpa. I really love your rock garden.
I hope you'll have some warmer temps for the veggies. Have a great day Tauna.
You yard is so so pretty. I love that you are taking pictures and Howie is working in the garden. How lucky you are to have that wood from your GRANDpa and you are so cleaver to have made a bench out of it.
ReplyDeleteSorry about just now planting your garden. I really hope you can harvest something by the end of the summer besides just snowballs.
Love these pictures! The barnwood bench is such a wonderful treasure!
ReplyDeleteDaily highs of 65 degrees? Wow, that's like many days during our winters here!
Well, some years (like the last two) all we can do is hope. It's the same here too! I am moving to St. George! ;D
ReplyDeleteI love that you made that bench yourself, and from the old barn wood. I wished I'd realized how much I loved old wood before my Grandpa's old shed got torn down. Makes me sad I didn't get any.
ReplyDeleteWhat is up with the weather? I love that it's been a little late heating up for us, but I know it's hard on you guys up north.
Your yard is so green and beautiful. I wish I could share some of our 108 degree heat today with you. Just some... My garden is burning up. My tomatoes split in the heat and get all yucky. Love the bench and its sentiment. Plant on!
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks gorgeous...good enough for a wedding reception!
ReplyDeleteMaybe the growing season will extend until Christmas!

ReplyDeleteEveryday that goes with no news is a good day. I'm hanging in there.
I don't think you are the only one just getting their garden in...hang in there, it will get warmer!!
ReplyDeleteYour yard is looking beautiful...I am with you though, some warmer weather would be nice. My hanging baskets are just sitting there begging for some warmth.
ReplyDeleteHey girl...just catching up. On the tats...I volunteer at our funky little food bank and honestly...the tats I see. I have to tell myself..."Don't judge, Sheryl"..lol...take care..warm up soon!
ReplyDeleteI think that bench is terrific! Anything that holds all of those great memories can only be wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI want tomatoes so bad after seeing Gigi's blog!!!
Idaho is just cold, like the last 2 summers, but your garden is absolutely glorious! You are going to have a lovely reception, I know. I'm praying for that pink zinnia!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby is SUCH a farm boy. He won't do boxes, he says he likes to see the rows in the ground.
ReplyDeleteCantelope?? Wow, let me know how that works out! And don't worry, we got our garden plated late too.
P.S. I happen to love your bench.
Sweet silly woman I would trade your 65's for our 100's any day of the year. hahahaha
ReplyDeleteYour garden is beautiful and I do love your bench too. More so after reading where the wood came from.
Would be great to have those raised beds too. I tried veggies in pots this year and this was fun.
We are in the longest drought I can remember and it is starting to be kind of scary. No rain in sight either.
Hope it warms up really fast and you have a hot fun summer
Love
Maggie

Everything is so beautiful!! I absolutely LOVE the planted/stacked planters!! And I believe the bench could be classified as Shabby Chic... therefore... totally STYLIN'!
