The GARDEN of EGAN

Needs to WARM up.
Immediately.
If not sooner.





I made this bench years ago.
It might look flimsy because it is.
It might look Redneck I'm OK with that.
But it was barnwood from my Grandpa's farm heaven on earth.
It brings such comforting memories for me.
I love it.

Howie built these raised beds about 11 years ago for our vegetable garden. I love them! It makes gardening so much easier.

"No Gigi and Mildred....I am not eating tomatoes yet.
But I'm not bitter or anything!"
I have never planted a garden this late in the year ever. It's been so cold, I don't know what we'll get.
We planted cantalope today under black mulch....such an idiot optimist.
Maybe we'll have a really HOT HOT summer and fall.
Pretty please!!!!?????
The daily highs of 65 degrees is not gonna cut it!

    Such a crazy year for weather? Makes me wonder if next year we'll have a drought?
    Our highs have only been in the mid 70's, the flowers and tomatoes are finally starting to come around!
    And raised beds...the ONLY way to go:)

    You yard is so so pretty. I love that you are taking pictures and Howie is working in the garden. How lucky you are to have that wood from your GRANDpa and you are so cleaver to have made a bench out of it.
    Sorry about just now planting your garden. I really hope you can harvest something by the end of the summer besides just snowballs.

    I love that you made that bench yourself, and from the old barn wood. I wished I'd realized how much I loved old wood before my Grandpa's old shed got torn down. Makes me sad I didn't get any.

    What is up with the weather? I love that it's been a little late heating up for us, but I know it's hard on you guys up north.

    Your yard is so green and beautiful. I wish I could share some of our 108 degree heat today with you. Just some... My garden is burning up. My tomatoes split in the heat and get all yucky. Love the bench and its sentiment. Plant on!

    Sweet silly woman I would trade your 65's for our 100's any day of the year. hahahaha
    Your garden is beautiful and I do love your bench too. More so after reading where the wood came from.
    Would be great to have those raised beds too. I tried veggies in pots this year and this was fun.
    We are in the longest drought I can remember and it is starting to be kind of scary. No rain in sight either.
    Hope it warms up really fast and you have a hot fun summer
