I'm {NOT} a Decorator!

My walls are pathetic.

If they had a diagnosis....
they would be in a coma.

I don't know how to decorate.

But when I see something I like I can copy.

I have no idea where I got the idea for a frame within a frame,
but I like it.

Then I did a Valentines post to my hubby.

I sorta accidentally typed a quote I ended up thinking was really
profound.

So I did this:

I also bought a new bedspread and throw.

Howie really shouldn't leave town so often.
I have a habit of getting into trouble.

And on another note....
Candice went snowboarding yesterday.
She came home saying she had wiped out.
She showed me her wrist.
I just looked at her and told her "I've seen worse, it's not crooked. Put your big girl panties on and deal with it."
I did tell her to take some motrin, although I didn't open the bottle for her
(Cuz I put the hell heal in healthcare)
And I'm compassionate like that.

Today it's looking sorta swollen and maybe a eensy teensy bit crooked.

Ya, fracture.

I'm such an awesome mom/nurse.

  1. You look like a decorator to me! I love what you did above your bed. The bedspread and throw is nice. Hugs

  2. Very nice!! I'm not a decorator either. When we remodeled our house, I had my sister come over and do my decorating!

But you girlfriend, did a fantastic job!!

  3. Decorating is just doing what YOU love and you did and it is very special...bet he loved it! ;D

  4. I think it looks fantastic!
    Love that quote...

  5. For a non decorator you did a fantastic job, Nurse/Tauna/Mom/Twin/Blister!

I bet you anything that Howie can't wait to come home just to see what you have done next :))

I'm so sorry about the fracture. Do you think that is her way out of washing the dishes?

  6. This is why I don't ski or snowboard. I know I would have many a fractures..

I am in LOVE with your white bedspread. It looks so crisp and clean.. and it's just darling!!!

  7. Cute! I mean, it's no "All Because Two People Fell in Love", but it will do. :)

  8. I think your 'accidental' saying looks very nice on your wall. I like it!

  9. That quote is super. It deserves to be on the wall. So cute. The bed is crisp and clean looking. Sorry about the fracture. I broke my wrist five years ago and I still feel twinges when I think about it. It hurt b-a-d! Good luck.

  10. Hi there, I just stopped by after seeing that you comment on quite a few blogs that I stal...um, I mean follow. So nice to meet a new blogger now and then, especially if they are LDS too.

Love your personalized message you put on your wall and the frames look great with it.

  11. That is a beautiful wall! Can I copy the idea? You think your walls are comatose, mine are dead, literally! White, boring, drives me crazy. Little by little we're getting some color back in the cheeks of this old house.

Too bad about Candice. It's a good thing her mom's a compassionate nurse! :)

  12. I loved the quote when you put it on your blog the other day and I love it even more on your wall - Good job girlie!!

  13. What a beautiful sentiment! The one on the wall, not the panties one (although i definitely use that one myself too).

  14. Your room is beautiful. Wish you were close enough to help me!

    Sorry about Candice.

Hope you have a restful evening.

  15. Man, I hate it when that happens!

The wrist, not the decorating :0)

    Love your new room!

I'm giggling too hard about the wrist thing to write anything--sorry---it's not that I'm not compassionate and responsible-----

  16. :::::APPLAUSE::::: Ya done good, Missy!
Hope that wrist is feeling better STAT!

  17. Oh no! Your poor baby!!!

LOVE your mad decorating skillz! Your bedroom looks so cozy and welcoming!

  18. I don't know why I found it so funny that you misdiagnosed your poor daughter's wrist. Particularly since I've entrusted my OWN daughter's health to your tender ministrations1

And the room is lovely. Well done you!

  19. I love your wall decor. That's really unique!

You're not the only mom who has said suck it up and realize that it might be worse. It happens!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'd have to say YOU ARE QUITE THE DECORATOR. Looks very lovely.

Sorry about Candace--hope her wrist heals quickly.

  21. Okay, THANK YOU for this post, because when my daughter told me her eyeballs hurt when we were in Disney World, I told her, and I quote, "You may NOT whine while we're here. You are FINE. You just want attention, and coughing up flem is not the same thing as throwing up!" Well, lucky for us, we were there with a Dr.~he took one look at her, and said, "Whoa. What we have here is strep." Yes. That's right. And I held out my arms to receive my Mother of the Year trophy.

  22. Well girl, for not bein' a decorator it looks like your done went and hit the ball outta the park. The bedroom looks amazin'!

Hope the are is OK...some people 'ell do anything to get outta chores. Heeehehe!!!

God bless ya and have a fantastic day sweetie!!!

  23. Okay-I really like the look of your wall! Very sweet, but also simple and clean. No clutter:)

I think nurses/doctors are that last people to be concerned about pain/injuries. My doctor dad told my sister-in-law to take pepto for her stomach pain. Three hours later she was getting her appendix out:)

  24. My brother broke his leg once and my mom told him just to suck it up, only to finally take him in the next day when he was still complaining about it and not walking on it to find out it was broken :)

  25. Wha ha ha ha...that is so funny. Your poor daughter. I don't expect to see your FACE on any NURSE OF THE YEAR awards all too soon.

I like the wall decor. You did good. I watch the Nate Berkus show every morning. DO you know who he is....the exceptionally cute, (albeit Gay,...don't care, not passing judgment, nope not me) interior decorator.
He'd like it, I'm sure of it.

scriptures on the end table......you bet I noticed. Mine sit there too, I just need to do a better job of OPENING them.

  26. My husband doesn't DARE leave me home alone!

  27. Love what you did to the wall! I love to decorate and am always changing things up when Luvpilot is gone....which is weekly.

  28. If it had said "Live, Laugh, Love" I might have had to cut off our internet relationship. Good news! We're still friends!

  29. I am NOT a decorator either.
    I AM a good copier.
But...I'm too tired to do anything. I will just look at my crooked wall and wish someone would come fix my deco.

I hope if I get an owie you will be around to help...maybe.

  30. I love that saying and it looks great!!!!

You are a supe mom and nurse. LOL

  31. Your love nest is awesome. Way to remember what's important just before climbing in. You've created a Valentine that will keep on giving year round. I love the decorator in you!

    ReplyDelete
  32. You told two stories and get two comments! Ok, so any mom who has had more than one child has experienced this in one way or another. I do have to laugh though, nurses (my daughter Jen) generally seem to go into a different mode when "caring" for their own. I just think it's hysterical.

Remember it's our job to raise strong independent souls. Way to go mom...getting her ready for childbirth!

  33. :) My brother came home from Scout Camp one year complaining of a sore wrist. He'd fallen (two days earlier) on the ropes course. Mom (also a nurse) gave him the "suck it up buttercup" speech and was similarly chagrined when it turned out to be a fracture...

hey, at least your room looks nice!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Seesta -- you ARE a decorator! I've seen your house, 'member? It's gorgeous.... although I would've loved to see it in its "Pre-Tauna" color disaster state.

Poor Candice. Tell her to come down here and I'll give her some sympathy! ;D

  35. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the wall and the quote!! our St Patrick's bg is cute, too!!

Funny... but I guess NOT about your daughter's wrist... Now go KISS it better... Mom kisses are better than the dr... right? OK, maybe not... They grow out of believing that one...

    (((HUGS)))

  36. And yet another reason why I love you so! I also made my kid go for over 24 hours with a broken wrist. I too told him to quit whining, take some motrin and go to bed. He laid awake all night in pain. So glad I am not the only worst mom ever!

And love the quote on the wall - so that's where the magic happens huh?

    ReplyDelete
  37. It looks very lovely and tranquil.

Just an FYI... Your St. Patrick's Day background is reminding me that I think it was right around this time about 2 years ago (is that possible) I started reading your blog, and vice verse. Still not sure how we found each other, but I'm glad you're my blogger friend!

  38. Wonderful job on the bedroom!

I once fell off a ladder onto a concrete patio and did such a good job of breaking my wrist that it looked pretty much deformed...EEEK!

Thanks for the nice comment - it feels good to be missed! I decided over a year ago to only post once a month, so I can read and comment back to all my blog friends without it taking over my life! It works out just great! :)

  39. You know my motto - if the bone isn't sticking out, no bandaid for you!
And I love your frame in a frame. I missed the decorating gene myself.

  40. The wall is spectacular. I love it!

um, I guess that's why doctor's don't have family members for patients right? Or is that just on tv?

    ReplyDelete
  41. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!! you're supernurse, you can't be bothered with silly wrists and snowboarding maladies. :) kids these days, sheesh! nothing a few popsicle sticks and duct tape probably couldn't fix....and we can use some bailing twine for a makeshift sling if need be. (love it!)

as for the wall, i adore that! i should take a picture of mine in my room.....unless i already have it on my blog. i'll have to double-check. but it's a floating sheet of plywood/wood, spray painted for a good block of color to break up the white wall (board is bright granny smith green), then the vinyl's on the board. here's the link:

  42. OMH that is funny! I broke my arm once but there was no question whether it was broken or not, because it was a compound fracture. I had two wrists. It was awesome. I went into shock, too. My brother almost saw my naked butt. I don't know why I'm telling you all this.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think you can call yourself a decorator now, it looks fantastic!
Sorry about her wrist, way to go mom!

  44. That quote is darling! What a wonderful reminder of your love for him everyday...well, the days he's actually at home. Sorry there are so many when he's gone!

  45. Love the bedspread...totally digging white these days!
