(Sorry Gigi, you are "enjoying" a heat index of 111 F!)
Our getaway was to celebrate our 32nd Anniversary.
32 years!
Am I really that old?
I don't feel old.
Sigh.
In my previous post,
I did mention snow.
I'm 5'3, I have idea how high this snow pack was.
The view at the summit was stunning!
Birds were flying below us.
Elevation of Beartooth Pass is over 12,000 at the summit!
Loved the drive.
Loved the solitude.
(This is me about to go rapelling...or not.)
I also mentioned seeing Bear Butts
(No, Cherie, not Bare Butts.)
Little Black Bear cub.
So CUTE!
I also mentioned HUGE TRAFFIC JAM!
I probably should have rephrased it to
HUGE THINGS THAT JAM TRAFFIC!
This is outside of the car window.
Then we ran into this FOXYcreature!
The colors on her coat were so gorgeous!
(This was once again, right outside the car window.)
We also enjoyed this picture of a Bighorn Sheep.
At Mammoth Hot Springs we saw very tame ELK
Apparently there isn't a need for lawn mowers.
There were signs all over Mammoth that said "do not approach Elk"
AS IF!!! Sheesh!
Who needs a sign telling you not to when you have a husband
(I only had one altercation with the Forest Ranger when I tried to take the bear home. They get so cranky!)
It was so great to spend time together doing things that we both enjoyed. We love the mountains and the beautiful part of the country we are privileged to live near.
We enjoyed uninterrupted time.
Too soon it was done and we were on our way home.
To this view.
And just a few minutes later we were home.
I loved our Anniversary weekend.
I look forward to another 32 years together.
(This picture was taken at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone)
oh, the views... amazing how good home looks when you've been away!!! Looks like you had a spectacular getaway - congrats on not killing each other for 32 years!!!
ReplyDeleteOMHeck! Happy Anniversary!! Looks like you two crazy love birds had a blast!
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked at the size of your snow drift?!?! So when it melts is there a flash flood?
ReplyDeleteYou have some awesome wild life up in your neck of the woods. I'm so glad that you were able to catch it for our viewing pleasure. I love your pictures. And I see that there was SUNSHINE! It's about time you had some.
32 years seems so long but yet so short. We often wonder where and how the time past so quickly. Yall deserved a great weekend with no phones! Congrats and love ya.
What a fun trip! The last couple times we went, we have only seen a handful of animals-- Im glad you saw so many. Im so grateful to live where we do. What a beautiful place. I sure love you and your hubby. Happy anniversary.
ReplyDeleteWhat the What ---still that much snow at Yellowstone??
ReplyDeleteI am glad you had such a fun time. Isn't it great to have one on one, uninterrupted time with hubby.

The Bare/Beat Butts speak for themselves - always an amazing sight - giggle!

Sorry about my typos - my phone changes the words sometimes! Stupid thing then I look like a Bare Butt!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great trip. Loved the picture and LOL at the "bare butts" ; )
Uninterrupted time = THE BEST.

ReplyDeleteThirty two years and counting...that's awesome! Has he ever taken out a life insurance policy on you? Just wondering. Congratulations and holy junk, I can't believe the snow pack was so enormous!
ReplyDeleteSounds/looks like you had a great time! I just got back from a "vacation" as well - definitely not celebrating 32 years of marriage and didn't see any snow OR foxy creatures like you did! Congratulations on 32 years! Glad to see you had fun!
ReplyDeleteWild life, snow, beautiful scenery, no internet - sounds like a fantastic way to spend an anniversary! Congratulations on 32years!
ReplyDeleteA very Happy Anniversary to you honey.

Laughed hard at your comment on my post. Believe me you really don't want to be in my head. hahahaha
32 years is a blessing to be with the one you love. You two compliment each other. Probably told you that before
Love
Maggie
Awwww... Fun times.
ReplyDeleteYou know, somewhere near those cute bear cubs are not-so-cute bear mamas. Watch out! ;)
Glad you had a getaway with the hubby!
looks like you had sooo much fun! good for you and here's to another 32 wonderful years together!
ReplyDeleteWowser --- 32 years. And some said it would never last. Actually, I don't know if anyone said that -- just thought I'd throw that cliche out there. ha ha ha. I am so stinkin happy that you gotta get away with that awesome hubby o' yours. Serves ya right to have an awesome time. Ze mountains pretty much rock! We drove through Wyoming/NW Utah (picking up the Brodster from Scout camp) yesterday and I just love to breathe in the beauty of it all. In real life and in your post. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 32 years. That's amazing. It looks like you had a great trip.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! :)
ReplyDeleteJune weddings are the BEST!!
That snow is amazing! -- Kinda scary! ~ And the wildlife must be spectacular!
I hope I get to experience Yellowstone one day.. but maybe when there is no snow???
What lovely pictures!! And congrats on 32 years:)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! That's a huge milestone and it looks like you guys had a fabulous trip!
ReplyDeleteWow!!!!! Congrats on your anniversary. That is really great. The pictures are gorgeous, too! How cool for you!
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos! Looks like you had a wonderful time. I would love to see a tiny bit of snow right now:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! My husband and I just celebrated our 7th this past weekend. We took a trip as well, but not as exciting as yours. We were still stuck in 110 degree weather and laying out by the pools.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of fun...I love to go there...congratulations of the 32 years...awesome! :D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful pictures! And celebrating anniversary's are my favorite holiday. Just me and the Splenda - best ever.
ReplyDeleteYellowstone might need to get added to our list of places to go
So much fun! Happy anniversary :)
ReplyDeletequestion not to do with this posting... LOL But on your recent visitors list on your side bar, Where are they pulling the pics from?
ReplyDeleteIt's a pic of me and my exhusband... haha... and I tried to log into that thing to see if I had set one up a long time ago and it said my email address wasn't found. Weird!
Great way to celebrate. As I sit and steam in my house without air conditioning, that snow looks delightful!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! Our's was this month, too. We didn't do a dang thing because hubby is too busy running a business. He's got some making up to do, especially after seeing what you go to do!
ReplyDeleteI love yellowstone, haven't been there in years. Sounds like an awesome time.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 32 years and on finding someplace cold this time of year. Love the bear butt.
ReplyDeleteBearTooth Pass is one of the prettiest drives I have ever been on. WOW! I can't believe all of the snow pack. Tracy and I went up BearTooth pass in 2008 in September and the views and scenery were spectacular. The country up there reminds of the things country that we see when we go on our back country back pack trips.
ReplyDeleteLUCKY you that the elk were out at Mammoth. There was not one elk in sight and we were there for 2 days. The sites at Mammoth are something to behold and I have to admit that everything in Yellowstone is out of this world Gorgeous.
What a handsome couple you are in Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and I can't believe how many little critters you saw along your drive as well.
Happy 32 years!! Here's to another wonderful 32 years as well!!
Happy anniversary!! That is great that you got to have so much fun and see so much.
ReplyDeleteHey--next time just keep heading to Montana--most of these guys' cousins hang out on or by my hill! You know you want to.
