New Year's Resolutions
I have always written out New Year's Resolutions. I believe if it is written it will happen.
In fact, I always have written them out. Even in junior high school. One of my resolutions from 7th grade went something like:
#1 Get a boyfriend.
#2 Don't get another pimple
I should have learned from early age, resolutions don't work. I didn't get a boyfriend and I did get another pimple! Maybe I was asking for the wrong thing. OR maybe I was asking for things I couldn't control.
But I'm persistant.
Then there was the year that I had 5 small kids at home and my list included things like:
1 Get up by 4:30 every morning to allow for some "me" time.
2 Exercise everyday for an hour
3 Always have a spotless house
4 Always serve nutritious meals
5 Lose 20 pounds by February.
That is just a small sample of what I wrote that year. I say small sample because my list that I wrote out in my journal was 3 pages long. I kid you not!!!!
Somewhere between 7th grade and today........reality has set in.
I am setting goals this year, BUT I am making them attainable.
I am writing them down, because if they aren't written, then they are just a wish. I may have to really stretch myself but by dang I'm gonna do it!!!!!
Goals for 2010:
#1 Get out of bed before noon.
#2 Get dressed before Howie gets home from work.....no fair hoping he works late.
So, there ya have it. Goals...written down.....I look forward to achieving these resolutions! I know it's going to take hard work and perserverence but I know with a LOT of work, I can do it!
Happy New Year !!!!!!
I can totally relate! :) I think we finally learn afer years of unsuccessful resoutions! :) Good luck this year!
ReplyDeletewow, maybe I just need to be more realistic so that I wont feel like such a failure. Love the goals. I am definitely setting a resolution or two. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you can do it! :)
ReplyDeleteYou know if it's written down you have to be held accountable. I thinks these are great goals for you, especially since we all know that you are a morning person :) NOT!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!!
Happy New Years.
So funny! These are 2 goals that I could be setting for myself also, especially the getting out of the bedroom before noon one. Maybe it's just a nurse thing because after working those 12+ hours, I have to make myself get out of bed the next day. Just don't spring back like I used to that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike...I was going to write about 2010 goals today too!
Wow! You really shoot for the stars! Get out of bed before noon? You're my hero!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful new year! And I'm going to resolve NOT to get another wrinkle!
HA HA HA...THAT IS FUNNY! GOOD LUCK WITH YOURS...MINE? I DON'T WRITE THEN DOWN, I KNOW WHAT I WANT TO DO..DO IT..LET LIFE FLOW! HAVE A GOOD WEEK..Come say hi ;D
ReplyDeleteI think I need to set the goal to not get any pimples this year LOL At 30 years old my practically perfect skin decided it wants to have issues :)
ReplyDeleteHey that sounds like my resolutions = P
ReplyDeleteI see that is the trend on all my favorite blogs I stalk, resolutions that ARE attainable. Thank goodness because honestly, I'm just to set in my ways to try a lot of different things. I think I'm still working on my 7th grade resolutions where I am trying to "make Troy my boyfriend". I hope the hubby won't mind too much if it ever happens, lol.
You are so right about writing things down. Especially with my old timers starting to kick in. Good gravy, I will be lucky to remember where I wrote down my resolutions = )
Either way, I hope you and your family have the bestest New Years!
May
Ha-ha..
ReplyDeleteI loved your lists.. especially love yours as a young Mother.. boy can I relate. :)
I like your resolutions!
Love this, very cute. I have never written mine down. Sure I always want to lose weight, never do! I love yours, I think I might be able to do them, I have a goal!
ReplyDeleteI stopped making resolutions years ago but I got a real hoot out of yours. I guess it's just gettin' old but I decided long ago just to live each day the best I could and if I blew it there is always tomorrow! Thanks for the good read.
ReplyDeleteGod bless and ya'll have a Happy New Year!!!
I'm so happy to be back online... I've missed your funny posts! I can totally relate to your New Years' resolutions, except I kind of want to laugh and cry at the same time because right now I'm the mother at home with little kids and I'm fooling myself into thinking that I'm going to get up early every day, exercise, blah, blah, blah... I may need to re think things.
ReplyDeleteI love your resolutions for this year--those might be achievable.
ReplyDeleteI've got to think about mine. I usually do okay for a few months but then I cave.
Happy New Year.
Ok I will try to make a list before the big ball drops Thursday night. One of mine should be to stay in bed until noon.
ReplyDeleteHA-HA!!! Love it! Every year my resolutions get smaller and smaller.
ReplyDeleteLooks as though you had a great Christmas, and very glad about that.
Sandra
I'm pulling for you!!!
ReplyDeletei wish I could resolve to stay in bed until noon...somehow I just don't think the State of NY would let me do that...my kids would never get to school!
ReplyDeletelove your list! and yes...i see how my resolutions have changed over the years!
Happy New Year to You!!!!!
This is my kind of list!
ReplyDeleteSo realistic! :)
didn't get any of those yet since we don't actually get to enjoy our "RommaDon" month of celebration until february (mid-feb to end of march). just wanted to give him plenty of time to get it right.
ReplyDeletefor christmas he bought me the new photoshop software & 2 new dresses for church. and they are lovely! since this new allergy diet, NOTHING fits any more. so it's nice to not feel so self-conscious at church with things feeling like i'm wearing my shower curtain or something, lol. so, essentially, he did good on christmas. =)
you enjoy YOUR new year! very exiting to have another fresh start. but that's just me. i love january, for some reason i always have. it's like my second wind.
hope your holidays were the best & that the days still to come are the most wonderful ever!
I made a resoution last year to not make resoutions and that is the first time I've been able to keep one! Try it it just might work for ya.
ReplyDeleteBeen think about you today, hang in there!
That's why I love you ---we have the same standards/goals!!
ReplyDeleteNever a good idea to push yourself beyond what you KNOW is or is NOT attainable.
I do. not. make resolutions.
are you kidding me. I just try and tackle each day as it comes along as usually I never know whether I am coming or going.

Love your resolutions. I think I could maybe even achieve them with some determination. LOL
ReplyDeleteYou should read my list from last year. What a joke! I don't know what I was thinking. It's there on my blog. I'm definitely going to strive for something more attainable this year.
Thanks for popping by again, it reminded me that I need to add you to my Reader.
Vegas baby! That's where I live, so naturally I work in a casino (Titanic and Bodies exhibitions at the Luxor). That's why I had the misfortune of working on Christmas day. OH well.
Happy New Year!!!!
Love your goals, I think I may just say "ditto"!
ReplyDeleteAlways have a spotless house---with kids? You were quite the achiever weren't you:)

I totally believe in setting goals that are attainable! My main goal this year: do and be a little better.
ReplyDeleteThese are my kind of resolutions! Especially with my recent track record. it really is a big feat to be actually showered and dressed by the time C gets home!
ReplyDeleteGreat how you have matured. :) Hopefully this year's goals won't be too hard. They're great one! Thanks for your stop by my blog.
