New Year's Resolutions

I have always written out New Year's Resolutions. I believe if it is written it will happen.
In fact, I always have written them out. Even in junior high school. One of my resolutions from 7th grade went something like:
#1 Get a boyfriend.
#2 Don't get another pimple

I should have learned from early age, resolutions don't work. I didn't get a boyfriend and I did get another pimple! Maybe I was asking for the wrong thing. OR maybe I was asking for things I couldn't control.

But I'm persistant.

Then there was the year that I had 5 small kids at home and my list included things like:
1 Get up by 4:30 every morning to allow for some "me" time.
2 Exercise everyday for an hour
3 Always have a spotless house
4 Always serve nutritious meals
5 Lose 20 pounds by February.
That is just a small sample of what I wrote that year. I say small sample because my list that I wrote out in my journal was 3 pages long. I kid you not!!!!

Somewhere between 7th grade and today........reality has set in.

I am setting goals this year, BUT I am making them attainable.

I am writing them down, because if they aren't written, then they are just a wish. I may have to really stretch myself but by dang I'm gonna do it!!!!!

Goals for 2010:
#1 Get out of bed before noon.

#2 Get dressed before Howie gets home from work.....no fair hoping he works late.

So, there ya have it. Goals...written down.....I look forward to achieving these resolutions! I know it's going to take hard work and perserverence but I know with a LOT of work, I can do it!

Happy New Year !!!!!!

  3. You know if it's written down you have to be held accountable. I thinks these are great goals for you, especially since we all know that you are a morning person :) NOT!!!!!

    Good luck!!!

    Happy New Years.

  4. So funny! These are 2 goals that I could be setting for myself also, especially the getting out of the bedroom before noon one. Maybe it's just a nurse thing because after working those 12+ hours, I have to make myself get out of bed the next day. Just don't spring back like I used to that's for sure!

Great minds think alike...I was going to write about 2010 goals today too!

  8. Hey that sounds like my resolutions = P

I see that is the trend on all my favorite blogs I stalk, resolutions that ARE attainable. Thank goodness because honestly, I'm just to set in my ways to try a lot of different things. I think I'm still working on my 7th grade resolutions where I am trying to "make Troy my boyfriend". I hope the hubby won't mind too much if it ever happens, lol.

You are so right about writing things down. Especially with my old timers starting to kick in. Good gravy, I will be lucky to remember where I wrote down my resolutions = )

Either way, I hope you and your family have the bestest New Years!

  12. I'm so happy to be back online... I've missed your funny posts! I can totally relate to your New Years' resolutions, except I kind of want to laugh and cry at the same time because right now I'm the mother at home with little kids and I'm fooling myself into thinking that I'm going to get up early every day, exercise, blah, blah, blah... I may need to re think things.

  18. didn't get any of those yet since we don't actually get to enjoy our "RommaDon" month of celebration until february (mid-feb to end of march). just wanted to give him plenty of time to get it right.
for christmas he bought me the new photoshop software & 2 new dresses for church. and they are lovely! since this new allergy diet, NOTHING fits any more. so it's nice to not feel so self-conscious at church with things feeling like i'm wearing my shower curtain or something, lol. so, essentially, he did good on christmas. =)
you enjoy YOUR new year! very exiting to have another fresh start. but that's just me. i love january, for some reason i always have. it's like my second wind.
hope your holidays were the best & that the days still to come are the most wonderful ever!

Never a good idea to push yourself beyond what you KNOW is or is NOT attainable.
    I do. not. make resolutions.
are you kidding me. I just try and tackle each day as it comes along as usually I never know whether I am coming or going.
