I DID WHAT?????

Today I played in the dirt.
I love dirt.
I love earth.
It was 54 degrees!
Unheard of in this frozen wasteland part of the planet.
Winter usually drags on
and on
and on.
But just for today...
I pretended that Spring is tomorrow.
I planted peas, radishes and lettuce.
It is supposed snow tomorrow
and will probably last for months...

But just for today

my hands are dirty.

And I needed that.

  2. You can plant this early? Don't you worry about your plants freezing?

  3. I am just waiting to see what little presents the previous neighbors planted. Which, of course, will promptly die since I own them now.

  4. I chose to ignore the part of your post that discusses snow. If I ignore the cold weather---it'll go away, right?

  5. I did not know you could plant anything this early. Glad you had some nice weather that allowed you to get outside and play in the dirt.

  7. As I walked around my yard today taking the puppy to go piddle I thought I was going to sink in the soggy grass. Goodness the rain has been terrible. It gives me encouragement that you could actually work your soil, good for you!!!

  8. Digging in the dirt is therapeutic! If I remember right, last year at this time, you were still under a foot of snow! Glad you could enjoy the 54 degree weather...if only for today.

  9. It was over 70o here yesterday--Spring taunts us so much here in March! I even had the sprinklers running for a few minutes. But, we all know that our best snow storms are usually during Spring Break and through April. It's not time to plant anything here yet. Lucky you!

  12. I remember those bursts of warm amid the cold in Idaho. The seeds will survive for those plants. I always had to hold myself back on bedding plants until after Mother's Day. They'd freeze every time if I planted earlier. It's been 85 here lately but will "cool down" to 69 Sunday. The weather guy called it a return of winter. hahaha He don't know nothin' about winter...

  13. What does it mean if I can't stand dirt on my hands? It means I have one little tomato plant, and one little strawberry plant. The peas are still waiting to be planted.

  21. I love to play in the dirt too but it will have to be indoor. I have a few geranium seeds that sprouted. That's it

We still have lots of snow on the ground because of the latest snow storm. sigh..

    Have a great weekend. JB

  22. I'm so glad that you played in the dirt!! I also love the dirt - my favorite is right after my garden is tilled . . . sinking my toes in that fresh, damp earth . . . heaven!!

  24. Other than the TERRIBLE wind, spring has been quite pleasant. However, when I went out into my yard, it was still pretty sloshy and it was turned into a dangeros mine field by the dog. Instead, I sat on the porch and soaked up the Vitamin D. I'm ready for more!
